"Okay, real talk. What movie should we play for the closing?" You asked as you entered the Twilight Drive-In's office, plopping down next to Jughead. "If you tell me it's Betty Cooper's suggestion of Rebel Without A Cause, I might actually die."

"Hey, what's wrong with James Dean?" He nudged you playfully. "And besides, that movie's a classic."

"Maybe so, but you play it constantly. Where's, I don't know, Romeo and Juliet? It's a classic too," You nudged him back.

Jughead laughed. "Sure, but you only want to watch it because of Leonardo DiCaprio."

"Well excuse me Jug, 90s Leo was a total cutie!" You smiled. "Come on, play it tonight! It'll be good, I promise, and people will love it. When have I ever led you astray?"

"Well, let's start with the time you-" He laughed as you slapped his arm. "Okay, okay. Fine. I'll play your dumb movie."

"Yes! Thank you!" You clapped your hands in excitement. "You'll love it, I promise-"

"Hmm, not so fast." Jughead cut you off as he searched the film collection, but came up short. "Ugh, I can't find it. That means I'll have to buy it... $18 is way too much to spend for tonight."

You raised your eyebrows in disbelief. "So? It's only 18 bucks, who cares? Think about what the people want, Jug! It'll be worth it in the end."

Laughing, you continued, "And besides, it's for your best friend! And if you can't spend a measly $18 on me, how on earth are you going to treat your wife? What kind of wife would they have to be if that would be acceptable?"

He paused for a second, mumbling, "Maybe I want you."

What? Jughead liked you? He wanted you? "Pardon?" You whispered, desperately hoping it to be true.

"Oh, uh... nothing... nothing at all." He stammered, getting up from the floor and moving to leave.

"Okay... I'll see you later then?" You frowned. Had you said something wrong?

"Sure." And with that, he was gone.

. . .

"What'd you decide to go with? The sign was left blank." You smiled up at Jughead, curling yourself deeper into his side. The smile hid your nerves. After the strange morning, you were plagued with thoughts on the film and what he'd said. Would he truly play your movie? Did he truly mean what he'd confessed? But what if he didn't?

"You'll have to wait and see." Jughead wrapped his arm around you, adjusting the blanket covering you.

Then the movie began, and you smiled softly as you recognised the opening scene of Romeo and Juliet. "Maybe I want you," you whispered softly.

Jughead pressed a tender kiss to your forehead with a smile.
