Dias' POV:
I watched as Nathan went up against dad. That guy has guts, going up against dad. The guy with the funny accent who fought alongside my brother appeared wounded. I rushed over to him and what I saw was not good. His abdomen had been slashed open and he was doubled over, clearly in pain.
"Sir," I said to him.
"Hey kid. Can you just-" he stopped, tears rolling down his face.
"Sir, how can I help?" I asked. He grabbed onto my shoulders, supporting himself.
"Look after Laura," he coughed, spraying me in his blood.
"What's your name?" I asked him.
"Lo...Lorenzo," he coughed again. He's too far gone. He gave up and collapsed onto the ground. He went limp, his eyes staring up to the orange sky.
"Sir. Mr Lorenzo?" I asked, tapping on his shoulder. No response. I placed my ear to his chest. Nothing, not even a murmur. He's dead. I've had someone die in front of me before, but their eyes were closed. I've never looked into the eyes of a dead person before. I gently closed his eyes as he laid in his blood. They'll come to collect his body soon enough. I stood back up and let out a long breath. I'll have to tell the others. I took off, escaping the scene. I found a group of people cowering, including the same stranger that I saw with dad.
"Dias?" The red haired man asked. He didn't tower above me, but he was a little taller.
"Yeah. It's me. Who are you?" I asked him.
"Logi," he responded. Definitely not a Laura. There was a real array of people here. Four children, a short woman, around my height. A blonde woman that was taller than Logi and a brownish-blonde man who was just taller than the blonde woman. The male had green eyes which seemed to stand out to me. I could smell him. He has a golden aura and smelled strongly of oranges. The woman, blonde, had an aroma of vanilla, an extract dad had brought back from Earth once. The other woman, the brown haired, grabbed me by the shoulder, sending an electrical signal down my arm and through my chest.
"Where is he?" She asked me.
"My brother. He stayed to fight," the woman responded.
"Are you Laura?" I asked her. She nodded.
"Yes. Sí. Whatever you want me to say," she replied, tears glistening in her brown eyes. She had the same strange accent as Lorenzo.
"I'm sorry Miss, but he died," I apologised. She grabbed me by both of my shoulders, her eyes full of denial.
"It's not true. He can't be gone," Laura said. She pulled a device from her pocket and held it up to her ear.
"Papà. Mio fratello è morto," she said in words I could not recognise. She put it down and back into her pocket, then started sobbing.
"Don't cry. You have to put on a brave face for him," the blonde woman told him.
"I know. I will tell Daniel," Laura said.
"Alright," the blonde woman was close to tears as well. Laura took aside the small boy with brown hair.
"Daniel piccola, tuo padre sta dormendo con gli angeli," she said.
"Che ne dici di nonno?" The small boy responded.
"Il nonno sta bene," Laura said. I swear they speak like this just to confuse me, but the two blondes looked just as confused.
"Buona. Vedrò di nuovo papà?" The small boy questioned.
"Sí," Laura responded. The blonde woman looked at the small boy.
"Mama, Auntie Laura says that daddy is sleeping," the little boy said. It's so hard to tell kids these things. I wasn't told of my mother, I watched it.
"Was it really necessary to speak to him in Italian?" The blonde woman asked.
"Yes Connie. It was easier to not tell the other three and just tell Dan in a different language," Laura said.
"Sorry to butt in, but I don't know any of your names," I said shyly.
"Right. Sorry about that. Everyone, this is Dias," Logi said. They all turned their eyes to me.
"Hey," I said, going red.
"Away, he's so cute and tiny," the blonde woman said.
"Thank you Ma'am," I smiled.
"I'm Connie. The tall guy is Jaxon, the little kids are my son Daniele, Maxwell, Penelope and Sarah," the blonde woman said. I acquainted myself with the children and shook hands with Jaxon. He kinda scares me.
"Nate is still out there," I remembered.
"What?" Connie asked.
"What is Nathan doing?" Logi asked me.
"Fighting off dad. It was my dad who started this whole thing," I said.
"Right. Connie, you're on babysitting duty, Jaxon, you can come with me. Dias, you're also babysitting. Laura, you're going with Connie and Dias," Logi instructed us. I never took him for a leader.
"Don't you dare think that I'm letting you have all the fun. I'm going with you," Connie growled.
"Yeah. I wanna find dad," I argued.
"When I say babysitting, I mean you Dias. I'm not sure that I can trust you. The kids are just an add on," Logi snapped at me.
"You can trust me. I'll prove it to you," I retorted.
"You will do as you're told Dias. Go and keep an eye on him Laura. Don't let him out of your sight!" Logi raised his voice.
"You're not my dad. You can't tell me what to do," I growled.
"I don't care. I'm older than you," Logi snapped.
"I just helped take out a small army. I'm pretty sure that you can't do anything that I haven't seen today," I tested him.
"I've had enough of your voice already and I've known you for an hour," Logi said.
"I personally think that it is disgraceful that you would allow a lady to fight. The age of consent to fight in Avitius is 15, and that's how old I am," I retorted.
"You know what? Fine. But if you end up dead, I won't take the blame," Logi responded.
"That wasn't too hard," I smirked. Logi flipped. He grabbed me around the throat and pressed his thumbs into my windpipe. Can't breathe.
"I'll show you, you little brat," Logi hissed at me.
"Logi!" Laura shouted. He let go, dropping me to the floor and ran off. I sat up, sucking in all the air I had been deprived of.
"Laura. You and I'll go and find him. Connie and Dias, stay with the kids," Jaxon instructed, taking control. Connie nodded.
"Come on Dias. We'll look after them," Connie smiled. She took orders from Jaxon but not Logi. How peculiar.
