"Ayo Ahmad!" Ciera calls. She had just gotten done doing homework and was meeting with her best friend outside to hoop.

"What's good, midget," he gives her dap, smiling.

"I swear, you think cause I'm only 3 inches shorter than you that I'm a midget."

"Duh. You still short."

Ciera Ja'nae Adams and Ahmad Jermon Allen were the best friends. They'd been together since diapers and always were together. Ahmad was two years older than Ciera but was only a grade above her. Their parents were best friends and went to high school together and wanted their kids to be just like them. And they did.

They were the two friends not to mess with. You said shit about Ciera? Now you got beef with Ahmad. You wanna fight Ahmad? Now you gotta fight Ciera.

Aj and Cj. The top duo.

In their streets, they were known as bullies. They gave no fucks about how anyone felt. It didn't matter how nice you were, your feelings were gonna get hurt.

"Why she out here?" James, one of Aj's friends, questions.

"Cause, bitch, I can be," Cj barks, walking up to him.

"Why can't she ball?" Aj asks.

"Cause, I thought it was gon be just us niggas today."

"You thought wrong. You jus mad I be bussin yo ass on the court."

James rolled his eyes, huffing.

"You can leave if you gotta problem," Ciera tells him. "Ion need you acting like a bitch on her period while I'm tryna ball."

Aj only laughed at his ratchet best friend. But he knew he was the same way.

They played a game of 2 on 2, Cj and Aj whoopin ass on James and Kory (Aj's other friend).

The sun started setting and the two best friends walked to the corner store. As Cj was in the back grabbing some pop, she heard Aj talking to a girl up front.

"Yea, I just be chillin. Ion live far from here either."

Ciera knew what he was doing. That was his "spitting game" voice. He was tryna get with her.

"Oh really? I live a block away. I was just on my way from work and wanted to get sum."

"Word? Well, hit me up sometime."

"Aight, bet."

The girl walked out as Ciera walked up.

"You done?" She asks. She has a smirk on her face.

"Oh you saw that?" Ahmad licked his lips, looking at where the girl left.

"She was ugly. Just wanna let you know."

"But her ass was fat."

Ciera punched Ahmad in the arm.

"Nigga, I thought we talked about that."

"I'm just playin, midget. Calm down."

Ciera rolls her eyes, putting her pop on the counter. The two paid for their snacks and walked out, Ahmad's phone chimming. He smirked, typing away. Ciera already knew what he was doing and she didn't care one bit. The two gave each other dap, going to their own houses.

Inside Ciera's house was her fraternal twin, Zeblen. He was making a sandwich in the kitchen. Their parents were going over bills at the kitchen table.

"Hey, Cj," her brother greets.

"What's good, Zeb?" She took her snacks upstairs, waving at her parents on the way up.

Inside Ahmad's house was his little sister and niece watching TV in the living room. His mom was in her own room and his older sister was on the phone with her boyfriend in the kitchen. He greets his niece and little sister as he goes up to his own room. The conversation going on in his phone was interesting him more than anything.

He smirked, typing some more. A message from his best friend popped up,

Midget: Don't get too attached to her. She gon get you in some shit

Ahmad rolled his eyes, ignoring her message.

The next day, the two woke up early for school. They both hated it. Teachers, other students. All of that was beneath them.

The dead looks on their faces let every know that right now wasn't the time. The best friends got on the bus, sitting in their normal seat in the back. Ahmad sat on the inside while Ciera took the outside. They placed their book bags on their laps and Ciera put her head on Ahmad's shoulder going back to sleep. Ahmad used his hoodie as a pillow so he could be comfortable.

That's what happened everyday. Now the two didn't date, but they sure did act like they did. They didn't mind though. They were best friends, they've done more than just laying on each other's shoulder.

There were 3 more stops before they made it to their ratchet school. Meadowbrook High School in Chesterfield, Virginia. They both hated the school. Ahmad had to go through it longer since he was a grade higher than Ciera.

They exited the bus, walking to their favorite spot towards the back of the school. It was a small corner that moved them out of the crowded hallway.

"We doin sum today?" Cj asked, hands in her pockets.

"We can chill at my place? Get yo ass whooped at some 2k."

Ciera scoffed,

"You only won once and that was because you made a point the moment the game ended."

"I still won."

"Whatever."

Aj chuckled. A girl caught his eye. He immediately licked his lips, jogging over to her.

"You ain't tell me you went here," He says. The girl giggles,

"Yea. I been going here since the school year started."

"Bet, what lunch you got?"

"C."

"Oh word? I'll see you then."

Ciera rolls her eyes as the girl walks away.

"Looks like I'll be rollin elsewhere during lunch then," She says.

"Nah," Aj says, "I want you to chill with us."

Ciera groaned. Third wheeling was not on her agenda today...
