Youth is a hoax. It's evil. People who make a big deal of their "youth", are just inviting trouble. They try to keep everything going on around them. For them, if there's something that has to do with their "youth", they jump at it without a second thought. From normal daily life, to rebelling against the view of society. If you fall in with them - lies, secrets, failure, and even crimes await you. But for them, it's just a spice of life. And if failure is also a mark of "youth", then isn't it ironic, that a person who failed to make any friends, is also technically leading his "youth"? Though I wonder if they would agree. Everything runs on their schedule. Let me be clear. The people who enjoy their "youth", will eventually fall apart. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Excuses are meaningless. The tougher things get, the more likely people are to come to their own conclusions. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

If the only thing you can do is breathe in air and spit it out, then even some random AC unit's better than you. -- Yukino Yukinoshita

You can't reset life, but you can reset human relations. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

That was dangerous. If I were a normal male, I would've fallen in love with her there. Trying to find meaning in simple coincidences and ordinary happenings is a bad habit of unpopular guys. I don't believe in fate, destiny, or chance. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Maybe you only feel like you're being looked down upon because you're aware that you're inferior. -- Yukino Yukinoshita

Reality is cruel, so I'm sure lies are a form of kindness. Thus, I say kindness itself is also a lie. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Hard work betrays none, but dreams betray many. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

I don't think ignorance is necessarily a bad thing. The more you know, the more problems you have. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Working hard alone doesn't assure you that you'll achieve your dreams. Actually there are more cases where you don't. Even so, working hard and achieving something is some consolation at least. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

They say if you change yourself, you'll change the world, but that's a complete lie. When people judge somebody, it becomes a fixed idea and an impression that lasts. A wew is forced to stay a wew. If you do your best at something and stand out, that'll only get used as fodder for criticism. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

I hate kind girls. They make you take an interest in them by exchanging just one word of greeting. Once you start e-mailing them, it unsettles your heart. On the days they call you, it makes you crack a smile. But I know ... that's what they call "kindness". Someone who is kind to me is also kind to others. It seems like I might just forget something like that. If the truth is cruelty, then surely lies must be kind. That's why kindness is a lie. I always get my hopes up, and I'm always mistaken. Just when did I give up holding on to hope? My trained solitude won't let me fall for the same trick twice. I'm a seasoned warrior. When it comes to losing, I am the best. That's why I will always hate kind girls. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Life is something that can never be lived twice. Even this pointless act will eventually end. And while thinking that one day, I'll surely regret its end... -- Hachiman Hikigaya

There's no need to get along. I just said, "work successfully". Without opposing them or ignoring them, find a safe and smooth way to deal with them. That's called "adapting to society". -- Shizuka Hiratsuka

There are things that cannot be taken back. But the world will keep on spinning whether you laugh or you cry. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Relying on someone, helping each other out, and supporting each other. Most would say that's the right thing to do. However, that's just idealistic. In reality, someone always gets the short end of the stick. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

When humans are faced with truly terrifying circumstances, they don't think about other people around them. They're even willing to sacrifice those around themselves. By exposing that unsightly part of them, they can no longer get along. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

I don't think you can call a one-sided proclamation a "promise". -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Saying "I can change myself" is just admitting defeat in order to adapt to this cold cruel world, so that you can be its slave. It's no more than a basis for deceiving yourself and decorating it with pretty words. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

When people judge somebody, it becomes a fixed idea and an impression that lasts. A loner is forced to stay a loner. If you do your best at something and stand out, that will only get used as fodder for criticism. Those are the rotten rules of the Kingdom of Children. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

People who don't work hard don't have the right to be envious of the people with talent. People fail because they don't understand the hard work necessary to be successful. -- Yukino Yukinoshita

I'm not in the wrong. Society is. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

Here's the question. The world will not change, but you can change yourself. So then, how will you change? The answer, you become the god of a new world. -- Hachiman Hikigaya

I like myself. I have never once hated myself. My high specs, my half decent looks, my pessimistic, realist point of view. I don't hate any of it at all. But, for the first time, I feel like I could hate myself. The Yukino Yukinoshita I've seen all this time was always beautiful, pure, never told a lie, and could stand on her own feet even with nobody to lean on. I'm pretty sure I always admired her for that. I forced my own expectations and ideals on her, let myself think I understood her, and let myself be dissapointed. I cautioned myself against this time and time again, but I still haven't gotten over it. Even Yukino Yukinoshita tells lies. I couldn't even accept such an obvious fact, and for that...I...hate myself. -- Hachiman Hikigaya
