Ode to My Hair
Beautiful, thick, African-American hair.
No comb,
Nor pick
would dare enter my hair.
Beautiful, thick, African-American hair.
Can't keep it in one place,
It goes everywhere.
Beautiful, thick, African-American hair.
I braid,
I comb,
I curl and care.
This mess atop my head won't give me a break.
It ain't fair!
Beautiful, thick, African-American hair.
