Chapter 9: ...Getting to Know All About You

We chat for another two hours over tea and coffee, talking about everything under the sun. We get onto the topic of our terrible love lives "No. With the work I do, anyone I like would've gotten hurt. Either by my enemies or by me not being around. I broke a lot of hearts turning down dates. Including my own a few times."

I tell her the truth...maybe I'm more than just buzzed. She giggles "You think that's bad? There were five guys in my unit, all of them either flirted with, or stared at, me at some point or another. Furthest I ever got was kissing one of them. Of those men, only one is still alive. My love life is shit." She says, her head swaying a little as she talks.

My face drops a little "I'm sorry (f/n)." She just shakes her head "Don't be. George [Georgia] was an ass, York dated another girl, Adam [North's name] was a sweetheart but never took action, Reggie was hot but his friend Gary lied all the time and he was rubbing off on Reggie, and David...David's innocent and awkward."

"So, David is still alive?" "Last I checked...but that was awhile ago so...who knows?" I nod in understanding. She looks at the clock to see it read 1:23 AM. She sighs and cleans up her cup. "Thanks for the talk Locus. G'night." I nod "Anytime Echidna. Gu'night."

~Your P.O.V.~

You pack up your gear in the morning and go to the kitchen for breakfast. Felix is lucky he doesn't have a hangover. After having a bagel and some tea, you go to get your suitcase. You return to the living room with the case going through a mental checklist of the things you brought to ensure you don't forget anything here. You give them each a half hug and messing up their hair before heading out.

~Felix's P.O.V.~

I sigh as I watch her leave. It's not a sad sign though. It's a love-struck sigh. "One day." I say quietly. "Good luck with that." I glare at my partner's comment. "Don't act as though you don't want her." He just sighs "I'm not. The problem is, we both like her...and I'm not sure she's up to it." I frown "What do you mean she might not be up to it?"

He sighs "Last night, we talked for a bit. We got onto the topic of how shitty our love lives have been. I gotta admit...her's has been pretty bad." "Why? Rape? Crazy ex? Blank slate?" He just shakes his head. "Five guys in her unit. All interested at some point. Only one is still alive. Never got further than kissing one of them."

"Lame. Get any more detail than that?" He nods "I quote: 'George was an ass, York dated another girl, Adam was a sweetheart who never took action, Reggie was hot but his friend lied all the time and was rubbing off on him, and David's innocent and awkward.' Apparently David's the only one left."

"Wow..." "Yeah." We sit in silence for a moment. "I'm not gonna lose to you Locus." He chuckles as I open up a can of beer "And you know you can't beat me Felix." We both just grin at each other "Game on Locus. Game on." 'Let the battle for Echidna begin.' I think as I leave the room.

~3rd person P.O.V.~

It's been a few months since the first time Echidna stayed over with the boys. She's stayed over a few more times too. At the moment, Locus is trying to fix a smoke bomb that hadn't gone off during the mission. Felix is in his room and Echidna is in the shower.

He must have made a mistake because it goes off in his face. Well, to be more specific...in his eyes. He yelled-or rather roared in pain. He stumbled blindly through the apartment, relying on his memory to get him to the nearest bathroom.

Lo and behold...it's the bathroom Echidna is showering in...and she hadn't locked the door. When he enters, he leans over the sink and rinses his eyes out. In the meantime, Echidna turns off the shower and steps out. She grabs her towel and starts drying off her hair.

As she turns to grab her clothes she freezes and stares at Locus who is rubbing his eyes. Her pulse quickens as she waits, hoping he won't look her way. In that split second though, he can sense her staring and looks in her direction and sees her bare chest for just a moment before her towel covers it.

He looks away and he can feel the heat rise to his cheeks. He takes a sideways glance at her as he dries his face with a hand towel. Her cheeks are just as red as his. He puts the hand towel on its hook and leaves the bathroom, stealing a peek at her reflection in the mirror as he does.

Her back is to him and he can see an interesting tattoo on her right shoulder blade. It looked like a strange tower with curves, edges, and points. It was (f/c) and stood out against her (s/c) skin which glistened with the water droplets.

He catches himself staring and quickly leaves apologizing profusely as he does. Locus quickly exits the bathroom and shuts the door behind him, leaning on it as he does. Felix stares at his blushing partner, waiting for his explanation.

Locus takes a deep breath, adjusting his tie and running a hand through his hair as he stands up straight and moves away from the bathroom door. He explains how he was trying to fix the smoke bomb and how it went off in his face and he went to the bathroom to rinse his eyes.

He pauses before continuing his story "I-I l-looked up t-to see Ech-idna..*gulps*..n-n-naked." his face had turned a bright crimson again as Felix just stares at Locus, mouth agape. The next words out of Felix's mouth are "How big are they?"

Locus glares at him and balls his fists, ready to punch Felix. But he relaxes as he comes to a realization and he folds his arms across his chest and gives Felix the evilest smirk of his life. Felix looks scared "L-Locus....c'mon man tell me!"

He just chuckles and shakes his head "That Felix...is something I will never tell you." He groans but grins "Guess I'll just have to find out the old fashioned way." Locus is about to deck him when they hear the bathroom door open. They turn to see Echidna standing there.

She's wearing a (f/c) tank top and (s/f/c) jeans. She crosses her arms over her chest and flicks her head to toss her damp (h/c) hair out of her face while a scowl creeps its way onto her face. Her voice comes out as a low growl.

"Samuel. Care to tell me exactly how much you saw?" Felix snickers. She shoots him a death glare "Shut up Isaac!" she snarls out through gritted teeth. The mercenary does as he is told and shuts up. She returns her gaze to Locus.

He sighs and rubs the back of his neck "I saw your breasts a little bit. It was less than a second. I'm sorry (f/n)." She sighs and shakes her head. As she turns to walk away, Locus catches another glimpse of her tattoo past her hair.

He decides to push his luck a little "Ummm...(f/n). Can I..ask you something?" She looks over her shoulder at him "Choose your next words carefully Samuel. I'm low on patience." He nods "You're tattoo. I can see it past your hair. What is it? When did you get it?"

Felix chimes in "Tattoo?" He looks carefully and spots it past her waterfall of hair. "Wow. what is that supposed to be?" She sighs, it's the same tattoo her brother got on the back of his head. The Meta symbol.

"It's a layering of the Greek letters Tau, Gamma, Lambda, Epsilon, Iota, Xi, Delta, Sigma, and Omega. Michael and I got them together." 'Not an entire lie, just not explaining why we got it.' she thinks as they stare at her. She sighs and goes to her room.

So, I apologize for the delay. My writing buddy's been going through some shit but we wanted to crank out this chapter so we did. Things'll be slow going until things are better so I ask you all to be patient.
