Jimin awoke to the smell of coffee brewing from the kitchen which was open to the living room where he had been sleeping curled in the couch. He stretched languidly and slowly opened his eyes, peering around the room and sitting up. He noticed it was still dark outside the windows.

"Y/n?" You heard him ask softly from the couch, his voice low and husky with sleep, "what time is it? The sun isn't awake yet."

You saw him looking around in confusion and chuckled at his cute expression, "it's very early kitty," you replied, coming over to perch on the coffee table in front of him. He rubbed his puffy eyes and you couldn't help but reach out to stroke his ear with one hand. As soon as your fingertips touched him his reaction was immediate and intense. His hands dropped to his lap and his eyes closed as he leaned toward you, pushing his head into your hand. His lips parted and a loud purr ripped through his chest and you quickly pulled your hand away, holding it to you in surprise. He scowled and looked up at you with dark eyes. What happened to the cute kitten from moments ago?

"I - I'm sorry. I should have asked before I touched you," you stuttered out hurriedly before standing and speeding back to the kitchen to get your coffee and go, "I didn't mean to wake you, but I have to get to the bakery and get things started for breakfast. You should go back to sleep." You grabbed your cup and headed for the door, putting on your coat and stepping into your shoes. You turned back to him, your hand on the doorknob, "I would love it if you were still here when I get home later, and maybe we can get to know each other. But if you would rather go on your way, I understand," you smiled at him before turning to head out the door.

Just before the door closed, you heard a soft, "Wait!" And a rustling as he clambered off the couch and hurried after you, reaching out and clutching your arm with both hands. "I...I don't want to stay here alone. Can I come to the bakery with you? Please? I can help if you want! Or if not I promise I will stay out of the way. Please?" He begged, looking at you with enormous, pleading eyes that were cute once again, his ears swiveled back.

"Of - of course you can come," you replied, surprised, "let's go," you smiled.

You arrived at the bakery and set to work, pulling your hair up and tying an apron around your waist. Jimin watched you in fascination and caught the apron you tossed to him after. "It will get pretty warm in here once these ovens get going, so you may want to take your hoodie off before you put that on," you advised. You watched with your hands on your hips as he pulled his hoodie over his head revealing a plain white undershirt which clung to his chest and shoulders before putting the apron on and then smiling at you and pushing his hair out of his face.

"So what do you have to do at a bakery this early?" He asked, looking around at the large kitchen and yawning.

"Well," you replied, glancing at your watch, "we open in a few hours and I've got to get all my morning pastries made for our breakfast customers. I am glad you offered to help, it will make my morning easier. Can you bring me one of those big bags of flour?" You asked, gesturing toward the big 50 pound bags stacked against the wall. You watched as he walked over and grabbed one, lifting it easily to his shoulder and bringing it over to you. You smiled, thinking how nice it would be to have someone to help you out every morning. He brought it over, waiting for you to tell him what to do next. You clapped your hands together and the two of you got to work, you mixing up dough as he fetched ingredients and lifted the heavy pans in and out of the ovens for you.

As you pulled the last tray of pastries from the oven and set them to cool, you called to him over your shoulder. "Jimin, will you run through to the front and unlock the door please? It is time to open!"

"But..." he hesitated for the first time at something you had asked of him for the morning, his tail swishing uncertainly, "What if someone sees me?"

You frowned up at him, standing right next to you and looking down at his shoes. You sighed, grabbing his chin, "you're right, look at you, silly kitty," you reached up to wipe a streak of flour from his forehead, "Come here you're a mess."

"No," he said, pulling back from you a step, "I mean...cause I'm a hybrid."

You rolled your eyes and looked at him, "Jimin, first of all, I don't care what people think about me having a hybrid in the kitchen. Everyone knows that there is no more danger of contamination from you touching things than from me. You and I are the same. Some people just like to hold on to older ideas, even after they're proven untrue." You saw him looking uncertainly at the floor, his hands curled into fists and his ears drooping. "And second," you stepped closer to him and put a finger under his chin to raise it and meet his eyes, "I hope they do see you, because you're so stinking cute they won't be able to resist coming in and buying something," You finished, pinching his squishy cheek.

He smiled and blushed a little before relenting and heading out to unlock the door and turn the sign to 'Open'. The morning seemed to fly by with Jimin there to help you. When you were starting to slow down for the day your friend came in to get his usual order.

"Good morning!" He sang as he strolled up to the counter, reaching out to pull you into an uncomfortable kind of hug across it.

"Hi Hobi," you giggled, pulling away from him, "getting the usual today?"

"Actually I need three of everything today," he said, leaning against the counter on his elbows, "and make my coffee enormous, please. My Tae had his new friend Jungkook sleepover last night and the boys were up all night playing video games, I couldn't sleep," he grumbled, rubbing his eyes.

"Jimin, can you bring me three cinnamon rolls please?" You called to him as you poured the coffees, "I haven't seen Tae in here with you in ages, how is that little cutie?"

"He's great, I am really glad I introduced him to Jin and Namjoon's bunny, the boys are practically inseparable now, but he has just developed this new habit of staying up too late playing games and then sleeping until all hours of the - oh!" He suddenly stood up straight when Jimin came through with his order all bagged up and ready to go, "y/n, I didn't know finally hired someone, I've been telling you to for months you're running yourself ragged here. And a hybrid! Good idea," he finished, looking Jimin up and down.

Jimin blinked at the man in confusion as he set the bag down and looked to you. You popped lids on Hoseok's coffees and blushed, handing them over, "Well I haven't officially hired him yet - we just met yesterday and he offered to help me out this morning," Hoseok raised his eyebrows at you as you continued, "but you're right, it was so much better with help. I'd love for him to stay," You finished, glancing up at Jimin who averted his eyes and retreated shyly to the kitchen.

Hoseok smirked at you and tossed down some money before grabbing his order. "Hobi, no!" You groaned, pushing the money back toward him, "you helped me open this place I told you you don't pay here!"

"Come on, y/n, we do this every day. I am going to pay you and if you feel indebted to me you can just pay me back by being my friend forever," he replied, shooting you a grin as he headed for the door.

"At least pay the right amount then, this is too much!" You called after him.

"Charge more then, that's what it's worth!" He said as the door shut behind him.

"Charge more then, that's what it's worth!" He said as the door shut behind him
