My name is Kimberly and I'm sitting in my room, at my home, having a sleepover with my three besties, London, Aubree, and Marissa.

It is currently 11:13 PM at night, and we're allowed to stay up as long as we want. Currently we're all laughing and talking with each other.

"And then Deven slapped him right in the face!" Marissa was laughing like a maniac. So were London, Aubree, and I.

"Honestly, I'm sort of bored." London told us all, regaining her composure. Her long black hair had come loose from it's braid and was now all frizzy, shooting loose strands of her hair everywhere. Her almost golden eyes with just a hint of honey in them were full of excitement, as usual. And London's cheeks were redder than usual, probably from all the laughing.

"Yeah, there's nothing to do..." Aubree sighed. Her brownish-black hair was already down, and her greenish-brown eyes had that expression they always had. "Maybe we should just go to bed..."

"No way girls! I got something fun to do!" I exclaimed, trying to keep the excitement in the room. My hair was a lighter shade of brown. I had wanted to tie my hair into a ponytail that night because I wanted to look different than I usually did, however my mom made me cut my hair so it was now only shoulder-length. I didn't have enough hair to make the ponytail I so badly wanted. My eyes were partially golden like London's, except mine were green when I was born, but they later changed into this goldenish color as I got older.

"Whatcha got for us, Kimmy?" Marissa asked me, twirling her hair around. Her hair was midnight black and her eyes were a sparkling brown that caught everyone's attention. Her eyelashes were the most that stuck out, though, as they were long and beautiful. Marissa was probably the most popular out of all of us at school because she looked the most beautiful in our class (well, that's what our class thinks), but I don't really care anymore. Anyways, I rolled my eyes. I hated it when she called me Kimmy. Worst. Nickname. Ever.

"It's called the Texting Game." I said, trying to get their attention.

"How do you play?" London questioned me.

"Well the rules are simple," I began. "We pull out our phones and never ever speak a single word for the entire game. We use our message apps to communicate. We turn the lights off, too, because that makes the game just a lot more fun. We have to go an hour without talking. No mouthing words or anything. We can only text. If a person speaks a word when the game is still running, that person must go to the bathroom alone for thirty seconds and chant, 'I spoke the words, not to be spoken, please grant me another life, or a new token.' This is trying to forgive the spirits that you spoke. If they forgive you, you can leave the bathroom and the game will continue until it ends. If they won't forgive you, you will be left in the darkness forever, becoming an entity of shadows. The game lasts an hour. When it is the end of the game, all of us will have to type 'We made it past the night, please never give us a fright.' for the game to end. If we don't, then one of us will have to make a sacrifice, or there will be a price to pay. But if we do text the words, then we will be able to visit the spirit realm for a day."

"Seems easy enough." Aubree groaned. "Remind me why we play these weird games again, Kim?"

I shrugged. "Why do you play soccer?"

"'Cause it's fun."

"Well I play these games 'cause they're fun too. And it's not like they're real. Besides, it's only an hour."

"What if we fall asleep?"

"Then that person will die."

"That's... harsh."

"The way the game rolls, Aubree. Just the way the game rolls."

"Whatever."

"Let's start already," Marissa rolled her eyes, pulling out her phone. All of us did the same.
