Chapter 3: The Rift
Everyone’s POV
We stood frozen in place.
Jimin was crumpled on the floor, trembling, his sobs raw and unfiltered, echoing through the silent room. No one dared move not even Jackson, who had just stepped in and now stared, bewildered, at the scene unraveling before him.
“What... happened?” Jackson finally whispered, eyes darting between us and the broken boy on the ground.
No one answered.
Then something impossible.
A low hum filled the air, faint but undeniable. The atmosphere grew thick, the lights flickered, and in the middle of the room, a door appeared solid, ancient-looking, its dark wood etched with symbols none of us recognized. It hadn’t been there a second ago.
The room fell deathly silent.
The door creaked open slowly with a soft groan that sent shivers down our spines.
From the darkness beyond, he stepped out.
Our collective breath caught in our throats.
He looked... exactly like Jimin.
Not similar.
Identical.
Same soft features. Same pale skin. But there was something different in his presence something unspoken, sharper, colder. He stood tall, composed, and eerily calm, his eyes sweeping across the room until they landed on the boy sobbing on the floor.
The moment his gaze locked with Jimin's, his expression changed. His eyes widened not with fear, but recognition.
Jimin’s POV
I looked up through blurred vision, blinking past the tears that welled up.
I saw... myself.
Another me.
Everything else faded.
I stumbled to my feet, ignoring the fire in my limbs and the ache in my bones. My legs felt like they might collapse again, but I pushed through the pain. I didn’t know who he was or where he came from but something deep in my chest told me I could trust him.
I ran.
Straight into his arms.
“Help me... please...” I clung to him, burying my face into his chest, sobbing harder than I ever had. I repeated the words like a prayer, over and over.
“Help me… help me…”
He didn’t speak. Not at first.
Then, with a slow and deliberate movement, he reached down, gently pulled my arms from around his waist, and moved me behind him shielding me.
He stared at the others, his body rigid like a wall made of ice and fire. Silent. Unyielding.
Even though I didn’t understand who he was...
Even though my body still shook with fear...
In that moment, standing behind him, something inside me stopped trembling.
I didn’t feel safe. Not exactly.
But for the first time in forever...
I didn’t feel alone.
I didn't understand what was happening or who this person was, but all I knew was that he would save me.
