"Narrative Poem: A Lifetime Of Love"

Let me tell you of these two,

So in love they don't know what to do,

But as their feelings grew and grew,

The universe revealed the truth.

This world is ruthless,

A death from the start,

It makes love toothless,

And fate always has a part,

To play...

She was 15 when she met him,

So bold and daring.

He seemed to radiate,

With cold uncaring.

Time stopped when they met,

Their eyes on each other.

They didn't know it yet,

But they were made for one another.

She wrote his name in her notebooks,

Over and over again.

Which brought strange looks,

From her family and friends.

But she didn't care,

Her soul was floating in the air,

And her heart had just been bared,

To feel what she had never dared.

He met her once,

And she stuck in his mind.

In the quad at lunch,

Was the memory he could find.

He couldn't shake it,

And this scared him a little.

He knew he couldn't fake it,

His will became brittle.

He would dream of her at night,

Her innocent face,

Eyes so bright,

He had a serious case.

But his pride would not let him,

Tell her how he feels,

So he kept it all inside,

Like slowly turning wheels.

One day they saw each other,

In the quad where they'd first met.

She was with her older brother,

But he didn't know that yet.

She waved at him and smiled,

He just sat there dumbstruck.

He knew this all the while:

He would not win her with dumb luck.

So he decided he didn't care,

What he looked like to the others,

He held her with his stare,

But there stood her older brother.

He was protective of his sister,

But it had come a little late.

Most his life he hadn't missed her,

And she ended up getting raped.
