Parties and bodies

Start from the beginning

"What, a dead body?" Scott asked and I rolled my eyes. Stiles reaches up and leans on the railing to look at Scott at eye-level. Here we go sarcasm alert.

"No, a body of water." Stiles snapped before saying, "Yes, dumbass, a dead body!" Scott looks unnerved about this news as Stiles climbs over the railing to join him on the porch motioning me to follow him

"You mean, like, murdered?" Scott asked.

"No dressed as a glittery fairy." I snapped and Stiles sent me a smile still waiting for me to join them on the porch.

"Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties." Stiles said as I sat on the railing.

"Hold on, if they found the body, then what are they looking for?" Scott asked with another frown causing me to roll my eyes.

"Because it got up and ran away." I snapped again.

Stiles becomes overwhelmed with glee at the drama of this situation as he finishes the story, "That's the best part-- they only found half." Stiles' tone of voice changes, making it clear that Scott doesn't have a say in what happens next, "We're going." Stiles said grabbing my hand and Scott's pulling us to his Jeep.

The three of us pull into the preserve in Stiles' teal blue Jeep, illuminating the sign warning against entry after dark with the Jeep's headlights. Stiles gets out with a flashlight in hand. Scott follows, hurrying to keep up with him as the walk in the dark woods. I get out following a few feet away from Scott.

"We're seriously doing this?" Scott asked slightly wheezing.

"You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town." Stiles countered.

"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow." Scott snapped causing my to furrow my eyebrows in confusion.

"Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort." Stiles snapped snidely and personally I wanted to hit him upside the head for trying to ruin the kid's dreams.

"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line." Scott snapped and I don't care anymore.

I listened to little bits of the conversation following the sass off and it was about how Stiles didn't come prepared. Well lucky for us I'm always prepared for anything. Scott's breathing starts to become rapid, shallow, and wheezy as the two continue up the hill, with Scott struggling to keep up with Stiles' quick pace. I walked up to him and started walking with him to keep him from falling because asthma can't be fun.

"Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?" Scott gasped and I actually agree with him but Stiles wasn't listening. Scott leans his back against a nearby tree as he pulls his inhaler out of his pocket. However, when Stiles keeps pushing on, Scott continues to make his way up the hill after him. I followed behind Scott ready to catch him if anything happens. When we see a handful of people ahead of them waving flashlights around as part of the search, Stiles, Scott, and I dive behind a large fallen tree branch as we plan our next move, turning off the flashlight so we don't attract attention. Unfortunately for us, Stiles' impatience eventually wins out, and he whispers back to Scott and me as he jumps up and runs toward the action.

"Wait!" Scott whisper yells getting up.

"Come on!" Stiles snapped back. Scott, still wheezing, tries to stop Stiles, to no avail. I got up and pushed myself off before walking over to Scott and patting his shoulder as he yells, "Stiles! Wait up!"

Scott quickly takes a hit from his inhaler before scrambling to catch up with him. He tries his best to call after his best friend without also alerting anyone else that they are there. I jog following the asthmatic carefully. Personally I really don't care about this but it's a dead body who doesn't want to see one at least once.
