41. The 60's aren't made for everyone

Start from the beginning

- She's alive brother, I promise you that she'll be fine when we'll find her and she'll be revenged. I nod and take another deep breath in and out.

- How can you not be scared for her? Or at least not seem to be it? I ask him nervously.

- Because she's your daughter, she's my niece and above that, a Salvatore. I stare at my big brother's eyes while nodding when the front door gets open. We both stand up and step up to the door as the lawyer exits the boarding house.

- Thank you, Mr. Henry, thanks Elena while shaking the hand of the man and smiling. Damon and I walk to the threshold but an invisible force keeps us out. Right... I'm sorry. I completely forgot, Elena looks at me. Stefan, Damon turns to me, smiling humorlessly. I smile back, amused. Would you like to come inside my house? Smiles my girlfriend.

- I would love to. Thank you, I step in and turn back around to look at my brother outside. Elena looks at Damon.

- What are we, twelve? Questions my big brother annoyed.

- One of us is. If I let you in, do you promise to obey the owner of this house? Asks the brunette to the raven hair boy.

- No, answers, my brother.

- Seriously, Damon. My way. You promised. I call the shots. No lies, no secret agendas. Remember?

- Yes, Elena. Sure, whispers, my brother.

- Then please, come in, smiles the brunette. Damon steps in and looks at me.

- Shut up, tells Damon as I smile. Elena closes the door and we walk to another room. Bonnie is there. She hands to her best friend a jacket.

- Wait, where are you going? I ask confused.

- To school, answer my girlfriend, smiling.

- No, no, no. We didn't create a safe house for you to leave it, argues immediately my big brother while coming next to me.

- Yeah, guys, Klaus is out there. We know that, I remind them.

- Right. But where? No one knows. Look, I really appreciate what you guys are doing. And I'll be able to sleep at night knowing that I'll be safe here, but I'm not going to be a prisoner, responds my girlfriend while shaking her head. I arc my brows and turn around to look at my brother. I'm speechless.

- Tsk. Your way, Elena, says Damon and the brunette nods.

- Don't worry, I'm ready. If he shows his face, I can take him. Know how, states Bonnie seriously.

- The way I see it, next to Bonnie is the safest place that I can be. Come on, says Elena before leaving the house with the witch. I look at my brother who gestures me to follow them.

- Wait, um, coming, I tell to the girls in front of me as I follow them.

Matt's P.O.V.

I knock nervously on the front door of the Forbes's house. I need to talk to the Sheriff. I can't go to the ball with Caroline. What if she does something to me? I wait a bit until Mrs. Forbes opens the front door.

- Caroline left early for school, informs me the Sheriff.

- I know. I came to see you, she nods and closes the door before the both of us move to the living room. I don't know what to do. What to say, how to act around her.

- You can't let on that you know, tells me the Sheriff seriously.

- She wants me to take her to the dance. What am I supposed to do? I tell and ask to the woman with nervousness.
