Anne was furious. First, she lost her flower crown, then the dreadful Billy Andrews had to top it off by sticking gum in her hair.
It was already bad enough that Anne had scarlet red hair, but the fact that they mentioned it every single day didn't make it any better.
She was oh so thankful that she had a spectacular bosom friend like Diana Barry beside her side at all times. One day, Diana threatened to die his hair an awfully vibrant yellow if he didn't quit teasing Anne.
It was a bold move for Diana, but Anne was ever so grateful for it, since the bullying seemed to die down.
Anne was 15, but her heart was still filled with childish joys. Like swing sets or water parks, but her favourite was collecting seashells. Oh how she loves collecting seashells!
Anne had a great deal of seashells at home, sometimes Marilla would even scold her for owning such things, but she didn't mind.
She thought they were so precious and delicate. Ruby Gilis, another one of her friends, had given her a large box decorated with the words "Anne's seashells" on the top, just for the storage of her treasures.
Anne was heading home when she decided to take a quick stroll across the beach.
She lived in PEI, and conveniently, there was a beach not too far from her house.
The beach was where she found a lot of her prized possessions. Seashells from white to blue and matte to iridescent.
Ever since those horrible boarders left, she had taken interest in rocks, but quickly shifted to shells, as they were slightly easier to find.
Anne was taking a stroll down the beach, collecting some shells, finding the best of the best (which, to her, were all of them).
She had collected a handful when the sun started to set.
"Tomorrow, a fresh day with no mistakes in it, what a comforting thought, isn't it, Sienna Rose." Anne sighed, talking to the sun and sea.
She would always go to the beach before sunset to collect some seashells, so she had decided to make friends with the sun and the sea. She even make names for them. too.
Anne laid flat on the warm, soft sand, sighing contently. The waves swished and splashed against her feet, nipping at her toes. The gulls flapping their wings as they ascended into the sky.
"I don't think I should mind Billy Andrews, don't you think Warren?" Anne said, slightly drawing her head upwards to see the ocean.
This was Anne's happy place. She wanted to stay here until her heart was contented, and if she could, she would. Unfortunately, she had to go back home, before Marilla would ground her, again, for being out too late.
Anne slowly pushed herself up and collected her shells.
Waving the sun and sea goodbye, she ran home, just as the sun was engulfed by the water.
"What a magnificent day" Anne thought as the wind whipped her hair. "Set your sight on tomorrow, Anne. Tomorrow."
