Shawn's POV:
Today is the day that I've been waiting for years , today is the international mixed martial arts competition and i am competing against one of the biggest guys out there, but i am positive about this one and I've trained so hard for it .
I returned home from my morning jog to be ' welcomed ' by mother's same everyday scenario about how I should quit fighting and enjoy life
"Honey, are you sure you want to do this today? You still got some time to quit you know "
"Yes mom I'm pretty sure about it , i am not giving up five hours before the show like a coward"
"Listen why don't you switch to competing in brain competitions isn't that way more easier? " She smiled at me while I take off my shoes chuckling
"Look I've brought you bunch of magazines the other day while getting my groceries, look these are pictures of the 'calculus competition' " showing me the pictures in the magazine "the winner got a car! How awesome is that you love maths don't you? I mean you were a straight A student you absolutely loved maths " then she closed the first one moving to the second " this is a the science competition they invited robots! Isn't that exciting?! The winner in this one go-"
"-Mom I've told a million times it's not as dangerous as you think ." I said
" don't lie to me shawn " she paused placing the magazines on the coffee table walking towards me, "I know what these games are all about, I've watched few on the television and let me tell you I couldn't continue watching not a single one of them"she stood there in-front of me as I watch her slowly fading into her clouds of thoughts while tears started to form , I know what she is thinking about
"Mom don't worry I've trained so hard for this , Besides how could i ever lose with those muscles " showing my biceps "huhh??" Trying to lighten up her mood
She smiled lightly and mentioned something about pancakes as she walked to her room still sobbing a little .
I know what you are thinking, why am i torturing my mother that way but I can't help it , i love that game so much and winning tonight would open me soo much opportunities .
