Construct: Reverse Eclipse

Chapter 2

Recon teams are usually sets of 10 people! Is she telling me that we lose 6 people everytime we go out?! I Turn around to see a large mass of flesh that's pulsing and staring at me with it's set off 6 eyes, "I Found him!" I throw myself backwards and empty my clip in it's face.

"WOAH!" Valk activates and appears on my screen, "Karl! Major damage to the front armour! Right outside the cockpit!"

"Holy hell!" Yukka yells. Zero and Kaname run over with Yukka. She puts one of her blades through the monster's head, pinning it to the ground.

"Wow...that thing did a number! If you didn't dodge there you would have died!" Zero states, shocked. The mass of flesh writhes for a few seconds then disintegrates.

"It hasn't even been 7 minutes yet and you already almost get yourself killed? Damn kid!" Neigell's voice comes through the radio.

"Cut the Kid some slack! At least he dodged, though it was a pretty bad one!" Rei laughs.

"Wow, you're lucky you didn't die! Maybe I should just kill you, then we won't have any guilt about not protecting your fragile little Construct, because you clearly aren't worth protecting!" Canae continues in her slightly russian accent. Their Constructs land nearby throwing dirt and grass everywhere.

"Oh Buzz of!" Zero yells back.

"You guys were supposed to be here about 6 minutes ago, because you were supposed to drop before us. Karl may have almost died, but at least he got here on time. If your so good then if you had dropped sooner maybe forward commander Corelline wouldn't have lost 13 units," Kaname states calmly.

"You bitch! Don't insult Neigell!" Canae starts to walk over but Neigell grabs her arm.

"No Canae, they'll die on their own," He simply states, jet thrusters come out of his legs and he starts flying away from the battle area.

"I don't know what that was about, I thought the special operations teams worked well together?" Coralline states in the direction they left, "Anyway, that was the only omega around here, satellite scans came up negative after you killed that one. Let's get you guys back to base and fix your outer armour Karl."

We walk up to a set of massive gates, 2 to 3 times the size of a construct. There are constructs manning large electrical coils on the walls every few yards. The gates themselves are large and some sort of blackish metal that i've never seen before. The walls are made of a different more bluish metal. There's a loud mechanical noise behind the gate as a construct comes into view atop the wall.

"Forward commander! Your back! You seem to have more units than before!" The male voice seems excited.

"We lost 13 out there today," She's silent for a second, then starts listing names, "Vermillion, Dale, Ben, Phera, wendy, Mack, Guren, Hanes, Cen, Una, Zane, Aaron, and Olivia."

"Damn....Cena and Olivia had promise. What happened to Setton?" He asks the Forward commander.

"Setton is fine, he came back early." She says.

"No he never got back," The Male voice says as the gates start to open.

"Damn...make that 14," Corelline signs, "Thats 162 this month, higher than last month, and it's still not even half over...They are getting more aggressive..."

"Let's get you guys inside, some of you could use a rest, some im calling it early. Forward Commander Loise will take over with his Garrison for the rest of the day." The man says.
