Construct: Reverse Eclipse

Chapter 2

Yukka, Zero, Kaname, and Vey join me near the window about 7 hours to launch, "Hey, you know it's 1 Am right?" Yukka states.

"Right, just brushing up on my Omega research, making sure I know everything I can. I'm using an instructor login so I can see classified info." I look back at everyone, they are staring at the planet we are traveling too, "It's not gonna be the moon that's for sure..."

"Damn right about that," Zero responds touching the glass.

"We'll be fine," Kaname says, "We all agree with what instructor Khuma said today during the send off ceremony." He says.

"Yeah..." Zero says.

"Im confident you can do it Karl," Vey says.

"We believe in your leadership!" Yukka responds.

I look back at the planet, "I've done so many drills, so many of simulations, but i've never been down there. What tipped you off, how'd you know I was worried? Even Yukka asked me about it last night."

"The fact that you've done 786 simulations and 376 drills while you were in senior year alone, which is right after we were confirmed as a squad," Kaname says. As usual he missed nothing.

"Remember...we are as high in rank as you! We are the number 2 squad in the school. Our team consists of a number 2, 3, 4, and 5. The 5 is better at combat than the number 1! And our 2 is a brilliant leader!" Yukka pauses, "We can handle ourselves! We won't die on you!"

"Why are you so worried about that anyway?" Zero asks. Kaname, Vey, and Yukka all turn and give him a death stare.

"No-no it's fine, I was gonna tell you guys anyway," I take a deep breath, "My Uncle's name is - was Venice Yukkara, we was a part of the first recon team to the surface of the earth. He had his brother and 3 close friends with him. They all died, despite having the best skills of their entire generation." I sigh, "I know that down there Vey and I can get away from our dad, but you guys are leaving a life that you deserve on the moon! I'm the first one that decided i'd become a cadet freshman! And you guys followed suit. You didn't know what it ment! I don't want to play Venice in a horror movie!"

The team is silent.

"I know that you guys can handle yourselves! I know you are good at what you do! But I can't just NOT worry!" I explain.

"It's fine! Look, i get worrying a little, but we can do this! At least recognize that..." Zero explains.

"Yeah....i'll always worry though," We all stare into the stars, looking past the grey and black planet that was the blue jewel of this solar system.

I climb up into Ragnarok and sit in the cockpit, Valkyrie activates and starts talking, "Your head is heavy with emotions....you really shouldn't worry about this, I know you know that everything will be okay!"

"Yeah," I walk the construct to a hanger in a ship that's headed for earth. The hanger has a drop door under the construct area. I wonder what that's for? I look at it funny then dock my construct and get out. There's a catwalk around all of the docked constructs. Fueling and charging are taking place for all the constructs that need it. Some of them are being reloaded.

"Hey!" Yukka skips over to me, "Are you ready?" She asks.

"Yeah! I guess?" I respond.

"You'd better be!" Zero walks up, next to Kaname of course.

"A 5 construct team... the very essence of the CTF!" Vey says, looking off the catwalk into the moon base.

"Construct Task Force...I guess we are a a part of that now..." Yukka confirms.
