CHAPTER TWO: REMEMBER THE TIME

Start from the beginning

"Genesis." He repeated. "Beautiful name. I'm Devin, your future husband." he said.

"Pffft. Heard that one before." Ava said.

"Well I must admit a lot of cats do be stealing my lines" he said making me chuckle again.

Ava smirked and rolled her eyes. She wanted me to get out more and start dating but something about him had always seemed off to her. She couldn't quite put her finger on what it was at the time but she decided to just let me do my thing. If talking to this guy would make me happy then she could deal with it.

"So, Genesis. Can I take you out sometime?"

"I don't know. I don't usually go on dates with strangers."

"Okay, okay that's fair. How about we exchange numbers that way we can get to know each other a little better through talk and text and when you're ready we can go on a date."

"That sounds.. Nice" I said reluctantly. We exchanged numbers and talked every single day for three weeks. I finally decided to take him up on his offer to go on a date.

We went out to dinner and afterward went to go see the new movie Twilight: New Moon that everyone was talking about.

"I enjoyed that more than I thought I would." Devin said as we pulled up in front of my house.

"Who doesn't love a movie about a werewolf and a vampire fighting for the love of a human?"

He laughed. "I really enjoyed your company tonight Genesis."

"Me too."

There was an awkward silence for a few seconds.

"I guess I'll just... head inside" I said reaching for the door handle.

"Genesis wait!" He said causing me to turn back to him.

He grabbed my face and gently kissed my lips before letting me go.

"I've been wanting to do that all night" he said sheepishly.

"I'm glad you did" I said smiling. I kissed his cheek before getting out of the car and heading inside.

We'd dated for about three weeks before finally deciding to make it official and I waited exactly a year before deciding to take it all the way with him.

I told him to come over for a romantic dinner that I set up which consisted of garlic shrimp, steak, and baked potatoes. I wore a black silk robe with pink and black lingerie underneath accompanied with black stilettos on my feet.

Devin walked in just as I sat the last plate on the table. The lights were dimmed and music was playing lightly in the background.

"Damn ma, it smells good in here" he said coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist. I smiled and turned in his arms, kissing his lips.

"Happy anniversary, baby" I said and he smirked before holding up a bag he had hidden behind his back.

"Happy anniversary"

I grabbed the bag and quickly took out all the tissue paper that laid on top on the gift. I pulled out a black, velvet box with the word 'Tiffany's' engraved into.

I slowly opened the box. It was a sterling silver bracelet with her birthstones in it and engraved into it were the words 'Ever Thine, Ever Fine, Ever Mine'.

"I love it baby, thank you" I said kissing him again.

"You know it ain't nothing but the best for my lady" he said as he held on tighter to my waist before kissing me again, more passionately this time.

I moaned into his mouth as I snaked her arms around his neck. I tried to pull away but he held me even tighter, biting my lip, allowing him access to let his tongue enter my mouth. I let him kiss me a little longer before gently pushing him away.

"Dinner" I said pointing to the food that he had long forgotten about.

"I'd rather have you" he said taking a step toward me and I took a step back.

"I took the time to cook the delicious meal for, so YOU will take the time to sit down and enjoy it"

He groaned loudly, causing me to chuckle, before sitting down at the table. He hadn't realized how hungry he was until the aroma of the food seeped into his nostrils.

"Damn, this shit smell good" he said as I sat across from him.

"Tastes even better" I responded. I bowed my head and prayed over the food. Devin looked at me strangely. He'd never met a girl that prayed as often as I did. Once I finished we both dug into our food, making small talk.

After we finished, I had Devin load the dishes into the dishwasher while I made last minute adjustments upstairs.

Devin walked in just as I started the music. Diary by Alicia Keys and Tony! Toni! Tone! was playing.

Needless to say, we fucked 'til the sun came up. It was a story of love, lust, and infatuation for Devin and I.
