Do you remember the time when we fell in love? Do you remember the time when we first met?

GENESIS IN MM

2009 (FLASHBACK)

It was November. It was surprisingly warm for a fall day in Philadelphia. Ava and I were walking home from school, gossiping about the latest celebrity drama and Chris Brown's new album "Graffiti" that was about to drop.

"Girl I'm telling you, ima be the first one in line to get it. Everybody knows that Chris is my baby." I said.

"Whatever. Ima just download mine off the internet like every other NORMAL person."

"And you'll end up in jail like every other NORMAL person that illegally downloads music offline."

"It's only illegal if they catch me." I said causing both of us to laugh.

We continued to walk and decided to stop by Five Guys to grab a quick bite to eat.

As we were leaving the restaurant Ava noticed a guy watching us.

"Do you know him?" She asked me.

"Know who?" I asked not paying attention as I dug at the bottom of the bag for fries.

"The light-skinned one across the streets with the two braids and sexy lips."

I quickly glanced up before digging back in the bag, and stuffing a couple of fries in my mouth.

"Nope." I simply stated.

"Well he's staring mighty hard and it's making me a bit uncomfortable."

"Just keep walking. He probably just thinks you're cute or something."

"How do you know he's looking at me and not you?" Ava asked me.

"Are you kidding? Look at me and look at you" I responded.

Ava and I were complete opposites. She came from big money while I grew up in the middle class. She wore name brand and designer clothes and I wore clothes from Walmart. We were both beautiful in our own ways but I always got overlooked because of my appearance.

"Just because you don't have on flashy clothes doesn't mean you aren't pretty. You're one of the most gorgeous girls I've ever met, Gen." Ava said making me blush.

"Thanks for the compliment, but you know I'm straight right?"

"Ha ha so funny. You're not my type anyways." she said sticking her tongue out.

"Excuse me" a deep voice said from behind us causing us to stop walking and turn around.

"May we help you?" Ava said crossing her arms across her chest, while I continued to stuff my face with the burger.

"Actually I came over here for her" he said motioning toward me.

My eyes widened. "Me?" I said with a mouth full of food making him chuckle.

"Yes you. You got a name, ma?"

Ava wiped the mayonnaise off my mouth after I swallowed thefood. "She does and it's most definitely not ma" she said.

"Well can you tell me your name before your friend beats me up?" He asked causing me to chuckle.

"I'm Genesis."
