Warriors: The Hidden Truth

CHAPTER 4-

I was brought into what the strange cats call a 'camp'. The cat that found me was named Briarlight. "What a weird name", muttered. I was brought into the center of the camp. Along the way, she started telling me that there are four clans, that they call their ancestress are called StarClan, and that StarClan was separated into two groups: StarClan and the Dark Forest. As I walked into the clearing I noticed that it had a pile of meaty prey, some cats a little older than me were picking dirty moss out of some nests, and a few cats that were returning from the forest. A big brown tom that looked like Tigerstar and Hawkfrost with a star on his head, a pretty white she-cat that had a puffy white tail, a gray-blue she-cat that had her ears and tail perked, a scarlet colored she-cat that looked like the starred cat's mate. She was leaning on his shoulder. A small tom was bouncing along the entrance, desperately trying to catch up with the older cats. Even though some were small, I felt like I was surrounded by StarClan itself. Then Briarlight nudged me over to the Tigerstar-looking-star headed cat and said, "Bramblestar, this is Brightkit. I found her outside the camp and came just in time it see her being abandoned from her mother. Should we take her in?" The mentioning of Darkness made me want to cry. Bramblestar looked up at the sky and whispered

"what should I do Firestar?"

He shuddered. Briarlight looked nervous. She shuffled her feet irregularly. "Take her to the nursery," Bramblestar meowed. "I'll make the announcement when the border patrol returns. We'll need everyone here for the arrival for our new

clan-mate. Briarlight gave a little bounce of joy. She padded to a den. "This is the nursery," Briarlight mewed. I mentally rolled my eyes (face paw). No wonder. It smelled like warm milk and younger kits. Briarlight had a gleam in her eyes. "I'm going to be your fake mother!" She looked at a den that smelled of herbs.

"I'm going to talk to Jayfeather!" "Good riddance," I muttered. I can't believe that that cat is going to be my mother!

As I entered the nursery, I saw kits suckling their mother and two older kits pawing each other's pelts.

I guess they were crazy. One of them, a dark brown and white tom-cat, bounced over to me and said,

"Who are you? Are you a ShadowClan cat? I'll tear you to shreds!" I backed away slowly not knowing wether it was a joke or if he was just being serious. He stood up a little straighter and meowed

"My name's Tanglekit. What's yours?" I shuffled my feet. "Brightkit." He stopped trying to paw me. "Oh. Well, no ShadowClan cat would name a cat Brightkit. They would name a cat something like Darkstripe, or Fallenrain, or even Jaggedstone." "Uhhhh-" I couldn't finish my sentence because Bramblestar was already calling from the highledge: "Everycat able to catch their own prey, meet at the highledge for a clan meeting." I proudly padded out of the nursery knowing what this was about.

"Hey," Tanglekit called from inside the nursery, "what are you doing? Bramblestar; our fearless leader said only cats old enough to catch their own prey could attend the meeting. That means everycat but kits, and we're kits!" All I did was ignore him. "Today is a very special day," I heard Bramblestar meow. "Briarlight had been expecting kits, and had been raising her in a old badger den and feeding her whenever she was on patrols." I was puzzled. That's not what happened. Scourge and Darkness abandoned me!

"Who's the father," I heard a cat say. An old, gray tabby with a sad glint in his eyes, like he had lost someone special, but adventurous like he had a journey with someone. ...

"Jayfeather". "Medicine cats can't mate! It's against the Warrior Code," someone spoke up.

"QUIET!" Bramblestar sounded furious. After that he broke up the meeting, and for the rest of the day, no one looked at me, talked to me, or ate with me until the sun appeared the next day.
