Unexpected Love

Chapter 2

I woke up to the sun peeking through the window, allowing the warm light into my room. I yawned and prepared myself for another day in Inkopolis Square. I put on my white v-neck tee, Squid Clip-On's and my punk white shoes. I've pretty much moved on to what had happened yesterday. Hopefully I never encounter that guy again.

As time passed, I did a good amount of work at Grizzo, played some turf and ranked. After my last turf battle, I decided to sit down at the square at one of the tables. Tower control is coming up in 15 minutes so I'll just wait it out and kill time on my phone. 5 minutes later, one of the most popular inklings came out of the lobby and was quickly surrounded by many fans, mostly which are fangirls. He goes by Colton. He was wearing his usual main outfit which was a Navy Eminence Jacket, Navy Enperrials and 18K Aviators. His neon blue hair was in a ponytail with his bangs on the side. Apparently Colton is known for having a ton of winning streaks in turf wars with his team and because of that, almost everyone is amazed by their achievement. I don't really see why anyone would get amazed by that, but that's just me. With all of the commotion going on, I was getting a bit annoyed. I looked at Colton to see what is he doing with his fans, but instead of looking at them, we both made eye contact. I quickly looked back to my phone. Shoot, that was a mistake. And now it seems Colton is coming towards me. Great just what I needed.

Me and Colton go way back in squid elementary school. He was mostly made fun of for whatever reason. One time when the school was about to close down for squidmas break, all of the inklings exchange gifts. Me and my friends at the time exchange gifts to each other. Though the only person who didn't received a gift was Colton. Instead of exchanging gifts, he was trying to hide his tears by putting his face on his desk. I felt genuinely bad for him and believe that nobody should feel this way on squidmas. So I went up to him and handed him a few pieces of my favorite chocolate and told him merry squidmas. It wasn't much but I figured it was better than nothing. He looked up to me with his eyes somewhat sore and red from crying and gave me a soft smile. At the end of the day, he actually asked me if he could walk me home. I really didn't want him too but with the day he had, I didn't want to make him anymore more upset, so I awkwardly said sure. We both walked to my home in awkward silence. I didn't make eye contact during the whole way, but I could feel that he was smiling at me the whole time. Once we've arrived at my home, I said to him "Well thanks I suppose. See ya next semester." He said you're welcome and then all of a sudden he went up close to me and gave me a peak on the cheek. I started to blush like crazy. I've became startled so I quickly went inside of my home and slammed the door in front of his face. I honestly wasn't expecting that and it caught me off guard so badly that I ran to my room and cried. When the new semester started, Colton was acting like I accepted his kiss and tried to show more affection towards me. I tried to stay away as possible and even told him that I didn't want this at all. He still couldn't resist. Luckily we both went to different middle and high schools; however, even with all of the time we've been apart, his feelings still remained the same.

"Hey Violet~. Haven't seen you in a while." Colton started to say in a flirtatious voice.

"Look Colton, I'm not in the mood. Could you please just leave me alone. Besides, you have a whole fandom right behind you. Why don't you go talk to them?" I said with a annoyed tone. He then grabbed my chin and lifted it up to wear I was forced to make eye contact with him.

"Oh Violet, don't you see? There's nobody who I enjoy talking to but you. Now I do adore my fans, but you cared for me before I became famous. So, how about I invite you to my team? You always seems to decline my invitation. Together, we can conquer all of Inkopolis. And maybe we can start something new together."

"No! For the hundredth time, I don't want to be on your team! And I don't care if your famous or not, I don't want to have anything to do with you!" I yelled at him. I was about to push him away until I heard a familiar voice.

"Hey Violet. I'm ready for our league battle." they said. I recognized the voice. It was Vincent.

"Wait what?!" Colton exclaimed. I was just as confused as Colton. I never agreed to doing league battles with anyone and even if I did, it would never be with this creep. What on earth is he up to now?

"Uh, yeah. Me and Violet agreed to do some league battles this afternoon. So are you ready Violet?"

I really am genuinely confused right now, but it doesn't seem I have a way out of anything right now. Is Vincent doing this to get me out of hanging out with Colton? Well, it's either that I go do some league with Vincent...or deal with Colton.

"Yeah I'm ready. Let's go." I said. I got off from my chair and started to make my way to the lobby. Vincent started to head in with me.

"Wait a minute! You can't just do that!" Colton yelled at us. He just stood there in utter defeat with a sour face. He was about to chase after us but he couldn't due to his surrounding fans. Well, at least I don't have to see him again for the rest of the day. But I have other things to worry about now. Started with the inkling who unexpectedly invited me to play league.

Before we went into a match, I immediately asked him, "Hey what the heck was that all about?!"

He looked at me with confusion and said "Uh, I saved you from having to deal with that jerk remember?"

"Why though? And don't say that you did it out of goodwill because that seems extremely unlikely for you to do." I explained to him with slight angered.

He sighed and then said "Well I wanted to apologize about what I did to you yesterday. That was completely unexpected of me and totally unintentional. So I was going to go and find you and when did, I saw how that guy was trying to force you to join his team and so I wanted to help you get away from having to deal with that. Either way, I'm just sorry for doing that to you. I was having a rough day and my anger got the best of me. Still though, I shouldn't have taken it out on you."

"Oh...I see." I calmly said. To be honest, I'm not sure how to react. "Well thanks I suppose." I manage to say.

"*sigh* My apology was lame, I know. I'm not sure how to make it up. I mean I really regret on what I did and how upset I made you. I'll leave you alone for now on and again I'm sorr-" Before he could finish his statement, we were automatically putted in a league battle. I forgot that we were in a league battle. "Oh holy carp! We've both forgot to leave the league battle lobby." Vincent gasped with distress.

Holy carp indeed. The mode was clam blitz. I've don't really play this mode too much. I only manage to barely get a B+. I also don't really take this mode seriously like tower control or splat zones. "It doesn't matter. Let's just get this done and over with," I exclaimed. Vincent slightly nodded in agreement; however, when I look over at him, he seemed very anxious. "What have I gotten myself into?" I thought out loud.
