|CHAPTER 32: TORTURE|

Start from the beginning

He could have blocked it if he wanted to, but he just needed to understand what Jace was on about first.

"We need to talk." Jace seethed.

"I'd rather stab myself, and squeeze lemon juice in my eyes." Tony sarcastically commented, picking himself easily off the ground.

Jace's glare was burning holes through Tony's eyes, but he felt nothing.

A man would do just about anything for the woman he loves, and that's what Jace was doing.

"I want Evelyn." Jace bluntly stated, not regretting his words, "I want her, I love her, I want to marry her, and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. So, you either bow out-" Tony interrupted his sentence in that second.

"Never took you for being a comedian."

"Or, you watch me take her away from you." Jace exhaled, eyeing the billionaire's fresh bruises.

Unclenching his jaw, Tony sat on his couch, and he pursed his lips.

"You're a good man, Jace. And, I don't doubt that she would be happy with you, but I won't step back unless I know for sure that she wants you, but as long as there is a one percent chance that she would take me back, I'll be here."

"You're a selfish bastard, Stark, but you're a lucky selfish bastard. You're lucky that you get someone like her, and even I know you feel everything for her. So, why do you insist on pushing her away? Why do you want her to leave?"

Romero was frustrated now.

Either he was going insane, or Tony Stark was bipolar.

He'd hurt her, and claim that he wanted her.

He'd make her cry, and claim that he hated her tears.

He needed to make up his fucking mind.

"I never wanted her to leave." Stark denied it quickly.

"Then why are you so persistent on pushing her away, why are you-"

"I'm a fucking asshole with nothing to lose, but I never wanted her to leave." Tony Stark denied it again, almost as if the thought of him wanting her to leave repulsed him.

He could never even imagine a life without her in it.

Girlfriend or not.

Fiancée or not.

He needed her in his life in any way he could have her.

And, in that moment Jace realised that.

He realised that underneath everything, Tony Stark loved her.

He loved her eternally.

And he will love her till infinity, and so Jace said the only thing he could say, even though it crushed him.

"Then love her Stark, love her like you should've loved her the first time."

He had been looking at the bottle for almost thirty minutes now, his body begging him to obtain all its contents.

He clenched his fists, and he watched Natasha come around the corner and glare at the bottle.
