7 ~ Rewrite the Stars

: Daniel :

                                                  "No. There's meant to be two." I awnsered the man as I came up behind Ellie. She's wearing the dress I bought her. Ellie looked down for a second then looked back up at me. "I wasn't sure you'd come if I asked." I explained to her. She gave me a small smile, weak, smile and took the tickets from the man. "Daniel you really didn't have to do this. It probably cost a fortune." She said, shaking her head and slightly slapping her cheek. "No worries. I assumed the dress would look beautiful. So, I guess I assumed correct." I flirted back. She thanked me and took my arm as we walked into the theatre. We stopped at the stairs and Ellie looked like a child in a candy shop. "I've always wanted to go to the theatre." She told me and turned to me smiling. We began to walk up the stairs when, "Daniel! Is that you?" I turned over to see my parents eyeing me and Ellie. Why do they always have to ruin everything? Jenny Lind and now this?
                                                         "Mother. Father. This is Ellie Wheeler." I introduced Ellie, but all she did was look down. "Phillip...have you no shame?" Father asked, gasping slightly. "Associating yourself with that Barnum business is one thing...but parading around with the help?" Ellie looked stunned, and she turned to leave. "Ellie." I called after her. "Ellie! Ellie!" I continued. I turned away from the door, and turned to Mother and Father. Anger was building up inside of me, clawing at my skin, wanting to get out. "How dare you speak to her like that." I breathed out and turned to leave. "You forget your place Daniel." Mother stopped me, grabbing my arm and pulling me back. "My place? Mother if this is my place then I don't want to be part of it." I sighed.

                                                I ran into the museum to find Ellie wrapping her hands. She was now out of her dress and in her practice clothes. I rushed over to her. "Ellie." She continued to wrap her hands, never looking up. I knelt down a bit and whispered, "They're small minded people." I tried grabbing her hand, but she pulled it back. "Why do you care what they think?"

: Ellie :

                                                               "It's not just them." I explained, my voice began to crack. "You've never had somebody look at you the way your parents looked at me." Sad, but true. He just stared at me, trying to find the last piece of the puzzle. "The way everyone would look at us." I sighed, remembering all the years I spent, hiding my face, my looks, me.
