Principal Fury called both of the boys parents so they could all have a discussion about their behavior. Eventually. they were all dismissed. The teens were sent home, having been giving in school suspension for a week.

"Really James?" George finally said once they were alone in the car. "The first day. You get sent home for fighting on your first day of school. You are so lucky I don't have to start work until Friday!" He stated, "And by the way, you're grounded! Phone."

George held out his hand for the teen's phone. James rolled his eyes and handed George his cellphone. He rested his head on his fist and looked out the window.

"As soon as we get home I want you to bring me your laptop." George added sliding James; phone into his pocket.

"It's like you want me to be miserable." James muttered.

"This is your fault. You got into a fight." George stated, trying to keep his focus on the road.

"I didn't start it!" James yelled back.

George sighed, trying to control his anger, "You threw the first punch James."

"He was insulting me. What did you want me to do?"

George groaned "I'm serious dude, why do you do this stuff? You know you'll get in trouble."

"I don't know." James whispered.

"I don't know it's going to cut it this time. You're getting into fights, you've been kicked out of two schools, you have this awful attitude, and I rarely see you happy anymore." George stated, "What is going on with you?"

"I just don't know. Okay? Just leave me alone!" James yelled jumping out of the car and running inside the house.

George went inside and plopped back onto the couch. Not even a minute later James came out of his room and tossed his laptop on to the cushion next to his father, then stormed off again.

James slammed his door and leaned back against it, sliding down to the floor. He pulled his knees into his chest and silently cried into them.

He didn't know what was wrong with him. But Goddamnit if he could fix it he would. Nothing felt right anymore. Everything hurt.

Eventually James found himself laying on his side by his bed. Sniffling as the last tears he had left in him fell from his eyes. He flinched when he heard a knock at his door. James quickly whipped his eyes and sat up.

"Go away." He forced, his voice hoarse from crying.

"Please, let me in James." He heard George reply, "I just want to talk."

"There's nothing to talk about!" James muttered.

"I found this today." George slid a paper under the door.

James walked over to the door and picked up the flyer "Dad, I haven't done dance in years."

"I know, but you used to be so happy when you took dance." George sighed, "If you aren't interested that's alright. I just want you to be happy again."

James set the paper down, "Thanks, I'll think about it."

The rest of the school week James was stuck in ISS. Friday eventually rolled around, which meant the end of suspension, but it also meant the barbecue. James was dreading even the thought of going.

He glanced up from his phone to make sure he wasn't about to walk into the road and he saw Steve. The taller boy gave him a warm smile, even after everything that had happened. James kept his expressionless face, and gave a small half wave.
