''Sicheng,'' he murmured, putting his hand on the Chinese man's long neck. Sicheng sniffed at the comforting touch. Taeyong was pleasantly surprised at how easily Sicheng allowed his comforting touches, considering how he'd been kicking Johnny just earlier. ''Turn to me. Let me see your face, baby.''
Admittedly, the situation was a little awkward since they weren't actually that close- he was only here because his best friend believed in his nurturing skills which was just plain stupid.
But despite that, Sicheng still turned around. Now Taeyong could understand why everyone loved this guy. He had a very babylike quality about him but Taeyong couldn't make out what it exactly was- but whatever it was, it made him protective.
''There you go,'' Taeyong smiled softly at the younger, gently rubbing Sicheng's temples. Sicheng sniffed yet again and closed his eyes, making a tear go down his cheek. It was horribly dramatic but Taeyong couldn't help but coo.
''Why're you crying, Sicheng?'' Taeyong whispered, not expecting an answer. ''You shouldn't cry.''
''Yuta left,'' Sicheng said, voice cracking. ''For family reasons. I don't want him to be sad!''
''He doesn't want you to be sad either,'' Taeyong said to him, voice softer than ever. ''So don't cry, okay? I bet if he saw you like this, he'd start crying as well. Do you want that?''
Sicheng blinked at him, eyes shimmering. ''...no.''
''The don't cry,'' Taeyong murmured, closing Sicheng's eyes with his thumb. ''Yuta doesn't want you to cry, nor do I.''
As Taeyong kept talking to Sicheng in a soft voice, Sicheng visibly relaxed. Taeyong's voice lulled him to sleep and soon, he was snoring softly. Taeyong wiped off his sweat, thankful he didn't mess anything up. He took steps down the ladder as slowly and calmly as po, trying not to start yet another crying session.
''Well,'' he whispered to Mark and Johnny, gaze as hard as a rock. Mark had a grin on his face and Johnny was also smiling- just not as big. ''There you have it. Mother child comforting session all done.''
''Thanks, Taeyong hyung,'' Mark said, voice more grateful than the appropriate. ''We owe you with this one.''
''Why'd you owe me anything?'' Taeyong asked, voice low as he walked towards the door. ''Anyways, I should go-''
A hand that gripped wrist stopped him from moving further. He yelped and took a step back at the abrupt action.
The hand was big, warm and rough. And also weirdly familiar. Taeyong looked back.
Jaehyun was sitting on the bottom bunk, staring at him with warm brown eyes.
''Holy fucking shit,'' Taeyong cursed silently and put his hand on his heart as he flinched. ''Jaehyun, what the fuck?''
''Hello to you too,'' Jaehyun said as a grin slowly took its place on Jaehyun handsome face. ''Also, watch the language.''
''Fucking fucketty fuck,'' Taeyong whispered to him, yanking his hand away and glaring at Jaehyun who's smile was getting more and more obnoxious every second. ''You scared the fuck out of me! Where did you hide for me to not notice you?''
''I didn't hide, you're just blind,'' Jaehyun said, getting up and walking to the door, gripping Taeyong's wrist yet again and dragging him along with himself. ''Guys, let's go to my room. I don't want to wake Sicheng up.''
Taeyong heard them silently agreeing and following Jaehyun out of the room. He had no choice but to follow Jaehyun as well- not because he wanted to but Jaehyun was a lot stronger tha hm and was currently dragging his lonely ass out of the room to go to another room.
''Hey- wait,'' Taeyong stumbled after Jaehyun. ''Look, my legs aren't as long as yours so you gotta wait! This has happened before!''
''Has it? I have no memory of it,'' Jaehyun said and even though Taeyong couldn't see his face, he could hear his smirk. ''Guess it was as irrelevant as it is now.''
''You're especially annoying today, you were so nice when we last met,'' Taeyong whined, trying to catch up to Jaehyun the best he could. He was extremely relieved when they finally stopped in front of a room. ''Why would it be irrelevant anyways?''
Jaehyun took out his key and opened the door, not stepping and looking at Taeyong with hooded eyes.
''Because as long as I'm the one dragging you, you'll never be left behind.''
Taeyong stared upat Jaehyun. Those words could seem innocent and simple to anyone else but Taeyong understood. One look was enough- Jaehyun's eyes said a lot. Taeyong gulped and averted his eyes down to the floor, not knowing what to do.
Jaehyun placed his thumb under Taeyong's chin and gently pushed it up until Taeyong's eyes met Jaehyun's.
No words were exchanged and Jaehyun stepped in the room with one last gaze.
It was as if the world had been muted around Taeyong. All he could hear was Jaehyun saying 'you'll never be left behind' again and again in his head. He could still feel the warmness of Jaehyun's finger on his chin and it, ironically, made him shiver. He was getting it again- the butterflies in his stomach. It was cliche but Taeyong couldn't help it- Jaehyun always found a made to make him feel special.
''Come on, Taeyong,'' Johnny shouted from inside the room. When had he gotten in? ''We're gonna play truth or dare! Close your mouth before a fly gets in.''
Mark's high pitched laugh resonated in the room. Taeyong rubbed his chin with his thumb where Jaehyun had held it. Why had Jaehyun done that?
A blush crept up his cheeks. He definitely wasn't complaining.
