"It's Carlos Ortiz. Stabbed, twenty-eight times." He tilts his head slightly. Moving one of the photos to the side, he speaks again. "That was written on the walls in his blood..." That statement triggered something in the android, causing its LED to flash a dark red colour a few times, it then goes back to yellow.
"You're accused of murder." Connor raises his voice a little. "You know you're not allowed to endanger human life under any circumstances. Do you have anything to say in your defence?" The deviant keeps its head down.
Connor leans forward. "You don't seem to understand the situation. You killed a human. They'll tear you apart if you don't say something." He threatens. This also triggered something in the android, it's LED changing again. You lean back in your chair and cross your arms. This seems to be going nowhere.
"I'm here to help you, but you've got to trust me." He lowers his voice and makes it soft, like trying to coax a confession out of him. "All I want is to get you out of here..."
The deviant android finally looks up and glances nervously at the one-way glass where the other officers, including you, are sitting. You sigh, finally. At least there's something happening.
"What... What are they going to do to me?" The deviant's voice shakes with fear. He turns his head back over to Connor. Connor tilts his head yet again but stays silent.
Something dawns on the android, so he sits up, realization appearing on his face. "They're going to destroy me, aren't they?"
Connors' face stays hard as stone. "They're going to disassemble you to look for problems in your biocomponents." This makes the android look down. "They have no choice if they want to understand what happened."
"Why did you tell them you found me?" The android asks confusion and sadness in its eyes. "Why couldn't you have just left me there?"
"I was trained to hunt deviants like you. I just accomplished my mission." Connor was cold, and to be frank, it was... Sort of hot?
You laugh outwardly to yourself and shake your head. Hank looks over to you with a weird face, then looks back through the glass to Connor. You grit your teeth. Get a hold of yourself Y/N, jeez. You shake it off and bring your attention back to Connor.
You don't know what you missed while you zoned out, but the android was looking down again, and Connor sat quietly for a moment.
"If you don't talk, they're going to tear you apart and analyze you piece by piece. They're going to destroy you." He raises his voice, trying to convince it now. "Do you understand?" It was back to being silent.
"Okay then, don't talk." He leans back now, acting indifferent. "Why do I care after all? I mean... I'm not the one accused of murder, right?" You frown. Why couldn't it just talk already?
"Confess, and I'll protect you." Connor bargains. "I promise I won't let anyone hurt you."
"He tortured me every day..." The deviant finally breaks. All four officers, including yourself, sigh in relief. It's about damn time.
"I did whatever he told me to, but, there was always something wrong..." Connor only listened, as did the rest of the officers. "Then one day, he took a bat and started hitting me. For the first time, I felt... Scared. Scared he might destroy me, scared I might die... So I grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the stomach."
You stopped listening as much after it confessed to stabbing the man multiple times. This made you wonder, why would any android obey? It obviously doesn't take all that much to break free... You knew that this was the start of something. Something big. And it would probably go down in history. If these 'deviants' only want to be free, then... Why should you stop them?
Were you... On the wrong side?
"I'm done," Connor calls to us, looking at the one way glass. Gavin walks over and into the interrogation room with the other officer, they enter the room as Connor opens the door. You and Hank decide to follow.
"Chris, lock it up." Gavin waves his hand. Chris listens, trying to cuff the android. "Alright, let's go."
"Leave me alone!" The android pulls away. "Don't touch me." The other officer, Chris, tries to grab him again, but it continues to pull away.
"The fuck are you doing? Move it!" Gavin yells.
"You shouldn't touch it." Connor intervenes. "It'll self-destruct if it feels threatened."
"Stay out of this, got it? No fucking androids going to tell me what to do." Gavin swears. You roll your eyes, but stay quiet. Chris and the android continue to struggle.
"You don't understand. It'll self-destruct, we won't get anything else out of it!" Connor insists.
"I told you to shut your fucking mouth!" Gavin glares at Connor. "Chris, you gonna move this asshole or what?"
"I'm trying!"
"I can't let you do that!" Connor pushes both Gavin and Chris out of the way to stand in front of the android. "Leave it alone, now!"
Gavin draws his gun at Connor, making everyone tense up. "I warned you mother fucker!"
"That's enough!" Hank yells. Goddamn, Gavin needs to back the hell off.
"Mind your own business, Hank," Gavin growls out.
"He said, 'that's enough'." You draw your own gun, pointing it at Gavin. You feel anger burning in your stomach. What the fuck does he think he's doing?
Reed then glances over to you, before glaring back at Connor.
"Fuck!" He put down his gun, then turned around and raised his hand, pointing an accusing finger at you. "You're not gonna get away with it this time." He looks to Connor one last time, before storming out. "Fuck!"
You put down your gun as well, and look over to Hank. He pats you on the shoulder and offers you a small smile. Your eyes land back on Connor, he's crouching down next to the android saying something you didn't bother to listen to. With that, it got up off the ground to walk out.
For the first time this whole night, its LED blinked blue. "The truth is inside..." Then it walks out.
Connors LED also blinked blue, before staying the one colour. He looked down, then over to you. "Thank you, Sergent Y/L/N..."
You wave him off. "It doesn't matter."
