Chapter 11 - Greedy Geese and Ghastly Games

"I'm going to die. Hunter, this is going to kill me. Hunter!" I squealed, looking at the low bridge we were approaching. Hunter and Kenzi were laughing, Lee muttering about my feet on the seats. I was pretty sure that this was where I was meant to sit and count my blessings, apologise for every bad thing that I'd ever done. And after everything that had happened in the past couple of weeks, that was one hell of a list.

"Just chill and get down when you get too chicken," Hunter hollered, his hand on my ankle incase the game took a wrong turning.

Due to probably being the boredest teenagers in Italy, we had decided to play a game. Actually, scratch that, Hunter had decided to put our lives on the line with a newest invention of his. It was like the game 'Chicken' people play with the trains, but we were playing with low bridges and Lee's convertible. Yeah, the outcome was going to be a lot more painful and I didn't fancy lying in a hospital bed, paralysed, whilst old nurses fed me tonic. That was how my life was going to pan out if I didn't sit down quickly enough. Never know, I might strike it lucky and get a hot male nurse to feed me tonic. But my karma wasn't looking too good so I wasn't counting on it.

"Help!" I yelped, ducking and falling back into the car, just as Lee drove under the bridge. My heart was pounding, yelling at me for being so stupid and my breaths were coming in deep pants.

"You're a wimp. That was miles away," Hunter replied, running his thumb over my thigh. I swatted his hand away, glaring in his direction.

"I could've been decapitated. Tell me, would you shag my headless body?" I asked sourly, folding my arms over my chest. Hunter chuckled, shaking his head.

"I'd rather not. I might take you out with me, though. You'd talk a whole lot less." I responded with a pointed look and Kenzi laughed, getting to her feet.

"Jesus, guys. The seats are real leather!" Lee whined, proddng Kenzi's shin. She raised an eyebrow, looking down at him.

"Don't get your dick in a twist, it'll be fine," she dismissed, putting her arms up above her head and whooping. I know that if it had been me behind the wheel, I'd of stopped, just to watch her fall back over the seat.

Kenzi was pretty damn amazing at the game, mainly because she wasn't overly scared of loosing her head to the roads. That became evident when we closed in on the structure and she was still standing.

"Crap, Kenz!" I yelped when Kenzi ducked down, her eyes wide with terror. She had missed the bridge by about a second, Lee was desperately slowing down the car when Kenzi had finally dropped into her seat.

"I forfeit, I'm not playing any longer. Bloody hell," she muttered, running her hand through her hair. That just left it to Hunter and I. Loosing to Hunter was something that I wasn't prepared to do, so I stood up.

It was fairly easy as long as you bent at the knees and stayed squatted. You didn't move with the speed of the car, that way. Even if you did look like you were going for a crap, it kept you upright and prevented you from doing a log roll along the road.

Hunter looked at me, smirking, gently holding my shin like he had done before. If I hadn't of known that he was only doing it to protect me incase I couldn't get down in time, I'd of accused him of foul play.

The next object to duck under was the road sign, telling us that we were only about 30 miles from Florence. It was going to be one hell of a lot more painful than a stone bridge, metal wouldn't kill me. Worse than that, my face would leave an imprint there and my mum would know exactly what I was up to.
