"I'm not in the mood, Seb," Kenzi paused, groaning into the phone.

The darkness of the night was still stalking through the passage, making it difficult to see her shape walking to and fro the living room.

"No, I don't care. I know, you said earlier," she all but spat into the receiver. I couldn't remember the last time I'd heard her that angry.

"Yes, I love you but no, I'm not sticking with it if that's the type of thing you're involved in," she paused and then shook her head. "Goodbye, Seb."

The next thing to go flying across the room was the phone. She huffed, grunting out loud and pacing again.

"Kenz?" I asked, padding out into the front room barefoot. Her head snapped in my direction and she sneered, glaring.

"Right, I'm going to ask you a question and I want you to answer me honestly, alright?" her voice was flat and cold, no emotion in it whatsoever. I was kind of glad that the light was off, if her face was anything like her voice, it would be murderous.

"Shoot." I didn't move, crossing my arms over my chest and waiting for whatever rant she had planning to hit me.

"Did you know that Hunter is in a gang?" she asked me. I froze, my heart starting to hammer harder against my chest and the blood rushing to my face. She obviously already knew the answer so there was no point in lying to her.

"Yes." My voice was a lot more confident and steady than I thought it was going to come out, but what the hey, the louder, the better.

"Did you know that Seb was in a gang?" she continued grilling me, closing in to prepare to jab her finger at my chest. That was how the last argument went, she blew her mouth off and wacked my chest about a million times whilst I stood there and took it. It wasn't going to happen again.

"Yes."

"Were you planning on telling me?" She was close enough that I coud make out the contours of her face, her narrowed eyes and angry, scrunched up nose.

"No."

"Why not?" she exploded, throwing her arms up in the air and hitting the light switch. The room was suddenly unbelievably bright, her eyes were burning with anger and red with what looked like tears.

"For your own safety, Kenzi, why else?" she huffed, shaking her head and starting to jab her finger in my direction. The anger was already beginning to boil, she always tended to do this to. Make out that everything I did was wrong and hurting her was my biggest mistake. Most of the time, it wasn't my fault at all, she just needed someone to blame.

"Because you wanted your own dirty little secret? Because your gorgeous, manipulative boyfriend asked you not to say anything and you did exactly that because you're far too desperate to do anything that could lead to you losing him?" she sneered, jabbing her finger at me again.

This time, I swatted her hand out of the way and gritted my teeth together but not moving from the wall. Hunter's tactic of seeming intimidating was not moving and keeping his voice chilled, I was planning on using it.
