Kiren POV

I chuckled to myself as I raced away from Azuchi castle but my smile was torn from my face before I could even think about where I was going. Hooves thundered not so far from where I was so my head spun around to see Masamune  racing after me on horseback. My heart dropped into my stomach, I thought I was finally free but I remembered back to how fast Masamune likes to ride, so I continued to urge my horse faster I don't even think it did that much because my horse was already going as fast as it could. His hair whipped around his face and his sapphire eye glinted wildly in the moonlight meeting my bright green ones. We both galloped away from the town of Azuchi; antelope and tiger racing through the forest.

My knuckles were white from gripping the reins so tightly and sweat plastered itself to my forehead and neck. I could tell he wasn't going to give up easily at all, so after a couple of miles, when my body began to tire I really got anxious. Everything was blurring, and the wind blew tears in my eye; blinding me but if a slowed then he would surely catch me.

"Lass!!" Masamune called over the drumming of hooves, "come back with me! I can see that you're tiring. Just give up, and I can persuade Nobunaga not to punish you for attempting to flee!" I turned my head round quickly, he looked pretty serious. But no. I couldn't go back there. I don't belong there, I belong at home. And I can't be at home when I'm 500 years into the past. I whipped my head round to return my focus on the road because it was taking all my energy not to fall off.

And that's where it all went wrong.

A flash of red dashed in front of my horse, which reared up in reflex to avoid the fox and I was flung off onto the ground barely managing to lift my head in time to see it continue to run off in the same direction. Searing pain engulfed my whole arm, choking so that I could hardly see straight. All I could make out was a dark blue blob was moving towards me. I had to think fast before I was taken back to Azuchi castle forever so I quickly grabbed the knife from my bag and hid it under my leg. The pain was causing me to shake uncontrollably, so playing unconscious was out of the question.

Masamune POV

I ran over to Kiren and cupped her beautiful and delicate face in my hands.

"Ren!! Ren!!!!" I cried shaking her. I could feel her tiny body quivering in my arms, my heart rattling in my chest, her sea green eyes dimming slightly in the harsh cold of the lonely night. A small groan escaped from her throat. "Oh thank fuck!" I swooped her up in my arms and prepared to put her on my horse when-

Kiren POV

I drove the knife into his shoulder. He groaned out a cry of pain and dropped me. I managed to mount his horse, as mine had spooked after throwing me off. My hands were soaked in his blood. He stumbled around, hand clamped firmly over his arm, "Ren..." He reached for my leg, but before he could do that I ushered the horse forward, and once again I sped off into the night leaving another warlord shocked and confused.
