chp. 3

There the tall guy from that morning, standing proudly as he kicked the guy repeatedly in the shins. Taeyong panicked, not wanting to be the cause of a death.

''Stop,'' he yelled at the guy, surprising himself with a voice louder than he'd expected. ''Please!''

The guy stopped immediately, eyes averting from the guy to Taeyong. The man took his chance and got up, almost stumbling down again. He ran away, ignoring the taller and younger man's shouts after him.

''It's fine, let him run away,'' Taeyong said, voice a lot more quiet this time. The guy looked at him uncertainly, but his gaze was soft.

''I- I don't know your name but thank you so much,'' Taeyong mumbled, avoiding looking at the guy. The other didn't respond for a bit. When Taeyong looked up again, the soft gaze was replaced with a cold glare.

''Don't take it personally,'' he muttered and helped Taeyong up. ''I'm Jaehyun. I saved you only because I had something to you.''

Taeyong looked up at the taller curiously, a pout on his lips. He didn't fail to catch that Jaehyun's eyes suddenly became gentle for a second and that his ears were getting more and more red. The gentle gaze disappeared as quickly as it came.

''If you want me to keep your secret,'' Jaehyun said, Taeyong frowning at the taller and straightening up immediately. ''You'll have to keep my secret too.''

''I don't know your secret,'' Taeyong pointed out. Jaehyun rolled his eyes, acting as if Taeyong was the dumbest person alive.

''I mean, if you want me to keep it, then you're not telling anyone that you saw me at a gay club.''

When Taeyong realized the power he had on his hands, a small smile made its way to his face but it went away two seconds later. He had no power in his hands- neither of them did. If one of their secrets were out, the other would be out too, ultimately destroying their lives.

Or at least Taeyong guessed so.

''Why is coming to a gay club such a bad thing, though?'' Taeyong asked, genuinely puzzled.

''That'd mean that I'm gay- or at least into men,'' Jaehyun sai, frustrated. ''And I don't want anyone to know that. So as long as you keep my secret, I'll be keping yours and you won't be ending up like that one girl from two years ago.''

Taeyong gulped nerveously. Two could play a game.

''Likewise.''

Jaehyun smirked at the pink haired boy. ''You're not as naive as I expected this morning.''

Taeyong took a step back when he suddenly realized how close the two of them were. He folded his arms, giving Jaehyun an unimpressed glare. ''What did you expect? Just because I have pink hair doesn't mean I'm going to be cute.''

''I never said not wcute,'' Jaehyun said as a matter of fact and then his ears blushed even darker when he realized what he'd said. Taeyong giggled at the man.

''The same thing happened this morning,'' he teased, poking Jaehyun's cheek only to be swatted away. ''If you think I'm pretty you can just say it to my face.''

''I don't know what you're talking about, midget,'' Jaehyun said, still holding his head up high, even with his crimson ears.  ''I'd never think such a thing, especially about you.''

''Whatever you say,'' Taeyong said, taking his forgotten backpack from the ground and wearing it. ''I'll be going. Thank you for saving me.''

He took a few steps forward in the dark street, starting to get unsettled again.

''Wait!''

Jaehyun rushed next to him and started walking with him without looking at him once. Taeyong raised a brow but dismissed any judging thoughts. Even though Jaehyun walked with him for twenty minutes until they were standing in front of Taeyong's apartment.

''Um,'' Taeyong said, voice hesitant. ''We're here.''

''Okay then,'' Jaehyun said, voice no less hesitant than Taeyong's.

''Thanks for walking with me, I guess?''

''Don't take it personally,'' Jaehyun said once again and  walked away. Taeyong watched him until he was out of his line of sight.

Taeyong was unsure of whether he should be grateful or creeped out. There were many things weird about Jaehyun's actions, but somehow, those 'weird' actions brought a smile to Taeyong's face.

Taeyong chose to be grateful.
