Chapter 48: Attack

We situated on all sides of the castle. Michael nodded at the first team, telling them to go to the town. With the first team attacking Victor's soldiers on rounds, this will make them retreat, putting them in one place. It's easier to fight on one side rather than on ten different ones. The leader, a guy named John, lead his team to a couple abandoned houses near the center, once Victors men were nearby, they attacked. We watched from the safety from the forest, seeing our men blitz attack them. A couple of them fell, but a lot more of Victor's men fell. It didn't take long for them to begin to retreat, there were too many of us. With them retreating into the castle gates, our second and third team stayed in wait until we heard the bells ring. With the bells ringing, more men came out and they tried to close the castle gates but teams two and three jumped out. With team one, who mostly consisted of my people, added with teams two, who was mostly Arkade, and three who was a mixture, they were well prepared to take them all down. They were the distraction, the more men coming out meant less men inside and no stops on my way to Victor.

I looked at the Five who nodded. We looked over at team four who consisted of King Philip and James and nodded. They lead the way clearing a path into the castle doors. We had archers set up in the trees who were in charge of taking out Victor's archers. This helped us out heading towards the door. The Five stood around me, keeping me shielded because the last thing we needed was for me to die by arrows. Aru was on archer look out, holding out his bow and arrow, ready to take them down.

We arrived at the door, King Philip had already taken care of the guards there and waited for me. We had to figure out where Victor would be and it was a no brainer, "Throne room."

"You sure?" King Philip asks, with a condescending tone.

I nod, "He always loved the throne, and since he wants to rule, where else would he spend his time?"

They nod, "Very well, where is the throne room?"

"Straight through here," I say, motioning towards the hallway next to the stairs. We begin walking to through the hallway when his men come out of nowhere. They tried to ambush us but we still held the advantage with more numbers. I took out one guy lunging towards me with a simple thrust of my blade. The others were taken out easily by the other people. The Five aren't using their powers to fight until we come face to face with Victor, they need to save their strength. With those men down, we continue. We have to go up a staircase to the third floor, this the back way to the throne room, it's a way to go as unattended as we can, we don't need to fight if we can avoid it. We are all on our guard, looking forward and backwards for men.

We get to the second floor, which is mostly the private chambers for guests and ambassadors, and we have to get to the other side to the other staircase. Once to that staircase, the double doors are right there and we fight. It was almost a perfect straight walk to the staircase until the doors began opening. Victor had figured we would take the back way and now we were faced with at least a hundred men. There was no way we were going to be able to go back either, there were men following us up the staircase. We were blocked.

"What should we do?" Aru asks.

"Fight," I respond, "There's nothing else to do. We need to get to that staircase."

King Philip clears his throat, "It's our job to clear a way for you, so let us do that. We will make an opening, you take that opening and run for the staircase, leave these men to us."

These men had gems meaning they had some power and were stronger than we faced before, "These men have gems, meaning they have powers and are stronger than the others. This could be fatal."

King Philip shrugs, "Look Queen Arrabella, what happened in Arkade was not what I planned to happen. Let me make it up to you by doing this. Besides, you six need to take on Victor. Take out Lynx and save not only your kingdom but mine as well. So do we have a deal?"

Even though King Philip had angered me in Arkade, I was grateful for his army. I also had more respect for him now, especially as a ruler, he know Victor would be a threat to his people and he wanted to save them. I will let him have his moment, "We have a deal. Clear a path."

"Yes your highness," He smirks, "Let's go men, show them what Arkade men are made of."

They all charged towards the men. We were shielded in the middle while Philips men circled around us, keeping us from fighting. I waited until I was sure there was a good path and once it was ready, we would run for it. It didn't take long for a path to be cleared. Ivan led the way, Michael following, then me, then Henry, then Aru, and Owyne last. Michael took out any men that tried to raise their swords at us and eventually we made it to the stairs. We burst through the top and stare at the double doors. I take a deep breath...this moment is finally here, the moment I've been waiting for.

"Arrabella, you ready?" Michael asks, giving my hand a squeeze.

I close my eyes, letting out a sigh, then reopening them. I smile, "Let's destroy Victor."

They all nod in agreement with grins, "Let's do this."

I push the double doors open to see Victor sitting on the throne, tapping his fingers on the arm rest of it. He smiles at me, sending shivers down my spine, "Well Arrabella, I have to say I didn't think you had it in you."

I stare him down, "Don't underestimate me."

He smirks, "Don't underestimate me either. Should we begin?"

"If you're ready to die, let's do it."

He shakes his head, "Oh Arrabella, I'm not the one going to die."

With that said, Xenia comes from the corner with at least two hundred men with. It's us six against two hundred...this was going to be rough. He smiles again and nods. I sigh and get my sword ready, let's begin.
