The Ozeras

It all started when I was nineteen. I was a few weeks short of being twenty when my view of the world changed forever. It was the beginning of the summer and the sky was starting to get dark. I knew something would happen because I was a young moroi girl walking home by myself. It honestly wasn't much of a walk from my former classmates' home to my brother's house. I had gotten sick during our sleepover and -against my brothers' wishes- started the twenty-five minute walk without a guardian to protect me. There's nothing wrong with having a big, strong, handsome, young male guardian to take of me, but I take self defense classes and I specialize in fire magic for a reason. I was learning to protect myself so I wouldn't have to rely on guardians the way that other royal stuck up moronic moroi do. I knew that once I had children—whether they be royal, non-royal, or dhampir— I would teach them that all the races are equal and they should know how to protect themselves no matter what.
I was pulled out of my day dream by the flash of headlights. I was startled and a little scared that it might've been strigoi, but seeing the face of Adam Voda, a school friend of my brother, I let out a breathe of relief.
"Good evening, miss Natasha! What are you doing walking alone at this time of night?" Adam grinned mischievously.
"Oh! Good night Adam, I was just heading to my brothers house. It's not long if a walk and I needed some fresh air so..." I stumbled a reply. I've always had a crush on Adam since I was first introduced to him three years ago.
"Really? Well we're heading over to Lucas' right now if you want a lift?"
"That would be lovely. Thank you for the offer."
Adam moved over so that I could climb into the suv. I never really understood why Lucas always warned me to stay away from Adam and his friends. He seemed like a great guy and once upon a time I would've love to have given him my virginity, but he was way out of my league. As I got comfortable in my seat I noticed that there were five others in the truck, including Adam's guardian Vincent Wilde. His brother Aidan, and their mutual friends Ian Badica, Daniel Drozdov, and Connor Szelsky.

"Did you guys just come from a party?" I asked shyly.

"No, but we're about too." Aidan joked ominously.

     "What do you mean?"

     "Not a thing..."

Just as he finished his statement, I noticed that he had a bottle and a white cloth in his hand. I started to freak as I realized that it was chloroform and that we had headed in the opposite direction from where my brother lived. How could I have been so stupid? As the cloth covers my face, I regret not heeding my brother's warning as I slip into unconsciousness.
