While being chauffeured to an important meeting Vincent Tokalon gazed blankly out of his window at the busy traffic of people passing by in the downtown area of New York City. He wondered what the normal lives of those people were like. Even looked at them a little harder; as if with concentration he could see what their normal lives consisted of. Needless to say, it was a wasted effort. Whatever it was he would never know. He didn't have the slightest idea of what normal was anyway.

Vincent was the heir of his family's legacy and the sole inheritor of immense wealth. With his bare hands Vincent's great, great grandfather built Tokalon Corporation from the ground up. A thriving force that had hands in just about every lucrative business from the states to the middle east and China. Vincent's entire life had been tailor made and mapped out for him since birth. He came up as the prince of some of the busiest and wealthiest people in the world. To say the least, that was never a means of happiness; it was rather a source of undying anguish.

His mother and father put off their parenting duties on the maids, gardeners, and butlers that worked around the castle for a home he grew up in. Except in the eye of the public; when praise and credit was due for such a fine young boy he was. Then was when they played the role of great parents. The moment he was old enough to start school they saw to it that he was part of every extracurricular activity available. From piano and swimming lessons to running track and foreign language classes. Anything to keep him busy so his parents wouldn't have to bear the burden of his needs. He had sense enough to understand that at young age considering they never made an appearance to show him support in anything. This was probably why he barely felt any grief when they passed. Even after they were gone he still wasn't free of being their puppet.

Under the guidelines left in his parents will Vincent was left in the care of his fathers closest friend, Frank Shields. An emotionless ex-marine who proved to be no more involved in his life than Vincent's parents. Franks idea of parenting was teaching him hand to hand combat, fishing, and going on monthly covert-like hunting expeditions. Once he graduated high school he was sent to study overseas in Italy for four years as preplanned by his parents long before their deaths. A requisite he had to fulfill before he could inherit all of the wealth left to him and take charge of the family's business. Something he eagerly looked forward to. It was a beacon of hope for relief and freedom. However, his inheritance came with nearly no sign of liberation. He still had to stick to a script written by his parents.

While in route to this meeting of his it occurred to him that the life he was living wasn't his own. For the first time in his life he assessed himself. There he was. A young and wealthy bachelor without offspring or anything of his own to show for after 32 years of living. By worldly standards he was anything but the average white male. Six foot tall with dark blue eyes, short dark brown hair, and a chiseled slender figure. There were no shortages of women who showed interest in him. Rather it was he who had a hard time finding one that appealed to him beyond physical attraction. Without a trace of arrogance in his blood he carried himself in such a way that demanded respect. To such a degree that nearly no one questioned his decisions. Yet, he couldn't recall one time he made an important decision of his own without any influence.

Before any ideas could stem from that realization his train of thought was interrupted by his passenger door being opened. The man who opened it was his senior advisor, Phillip Langley. Slightly taller than Vincent. Despite being completely bald on top he was a well aged white man in his late forties. He wore high end glasses and was very handsome with broad shoulders. He informed whoever he was on the phone with that Vincent had finally arrived and would be walking through the door any minute. He then ended his call and greeted him with a handshake and a modest smile as he exited the vehicle.
