Elena's POV
I slowly opened my eyes and looked around "um"
"Hey Princess" a familiar voice said softly
"Ow!" I screamed as I sat up. The pain was getting worse. Reece rushed over to me
"Hey it's ok" he smiled. I looked into his eyes and knew it'd be ok.
I didn't stay anything, instead I was playing with my thumbs. He sat beside me "Lena... I'm scared. I'm scared that if I let my guard down you'll get hurt again or even..." he stopped talking
I put my hand on his "don't think like that"
He shook his head "I've done this Lena, it's my fault"
"No" I sighed
"You're here because of me" he whispered
"Reece you didn't do anything wrong" I assured "you had no idea what would've happened"
"Lena you don't understand" he sighed "how could you? You don't belong in this world. You're to nice, to innocent"
I raised an eyebrow "what are you trying to say?"
"I already talked to Audrey about it. You're gonna stay in Audrey's room. We can't be seen together because you're a target. That means even though we live in the same house we can't talk. It's gonna kill me to no end but it'll kill me even more to see you back here because of me" He paused for a second "Lena you're honestly one of the best things that's happened to me. And if letting you go keeps you safe then it has to be done" his voice cracked
My mind was processing what the hell this guy was saying. I couldn't get a word out. He just looked at he floor "I truly do care for you. I can't even describe the feeling"
He looked at me "Do you ever look at somebody and think 'how did I get lucky enough to have this ray of sunshine walk into my life and turn my darkness into light'?"
"Yeah actually. Believe it or not there was you Reece. I was alone and my dad was a terrible guy. You helped me, no you saved me" I said "You turnt my darkness around into light"
He looked at me "I know it won't be easy but it has to be done"
I didn't reply, I looked out the window. He took my hand "Goodbye Elena" a tear fell down his cheek.
I watched him leave the room. What the actual fuck just happened!?!
