Lovino's POV

I slowly awoke from my most pleasant slumber. Raindrops pattered against the ceiling outside, and the sky was a bleak grey.

I sat up and looked at my small wristwatch. My eyes widened in alarm as I saw the time. It was 9:47, meaning I was terribly late for my first day at a new job. I jumped out of bed and hurriedly showered.

The water was cold, but I couldn't spare another minute. I stepped in and realized I was still wearing my bedclothes.

I sighed as I took them off and got back in. The water was warmer now, and I quickly lathered up my hair, careful not to pull my curl.

I rinsed the shampoo out and turned off the shower head. I picked up a fluffy red towel and dried myself off. I put on my work clothes and brushed my teeth.

I looked in the mirror and gasped. I had a bright red mustache drawn on my face, and in permanent marker.

"Feli!" I called out, knowing my brother had done this. "Yes, Lovino?" He asked as he walked into my room.

I walked out of the bathroom. As usual, he was ready and had a smile on his face. He was wearing a small button with his name on it, since it was his first day, too.

"Did you draw this mustache?!" I demanded. He smiled wider. "Yep! I think it makes you look manlier, no?" I shook my head.

"It might if it was real! I'm going to be a laughing stock if I show up to work like this!"

He tilted his head to the side, as he always did when he was confused. "Lovino, I start work a day before you, remember? Your first day is tomorrow."

I furrowed my eyebrows. Tomorrow? I looked at my phone and, sure enough, it said June 20th. My job started on the 21st.

I looked back at him in frustration. "Why'd you draw this, then?" He smirked mischievously. "Oh, just for fun. By the way, you have a visitor."

Who would visit me? "Um, who is this visitor?" Feli smiled and patted me on the back. "Antonio. He wanted to hang out with you on your 'last day of freedom'."

I smiled at my toes. Of course it would be Toni. He always knows the best time to visit. Feli raised an eyebrow at my reaction, but shrugged when I glared back.

"Okay, now get out," I said while pushing him out the door.

"Alright, alright. See you later, Lovino!" He waved and left. Well, since I'm not going to work today, I should change. I thought.

I opened my dresser and decided to wear navy blue jeans with a green shirt. Then I quickly brushed through my rebellious locks of hair, careful to avoid my curl.

No wonder my alarm hadn't gone off! I didn't need to get up early today. I did my best to wash off the mustache, but even though it was much duller, it still showed.

I walked down the hallway and paused to look at the sole picture on my side. Feli's side was entirely covered with pictures of him and his friends, while mine was almost entirely bare.

The only picture was one of me and Toni. We were riding a rollercoaster at Seven Peaks in America. Feli often asked why, out of all the possibilities, I had chosen this picture to be on my side.

Halfway through the ride I had buried my face in Toni's shoulder. I was so scared, and he had comforted me by holding me close until the ride ended.

Feli had failed to calm me down then; only Toni succeeded. Feli would always comment how special Toni must be to me in order to have that kind of effect on my emotions.

I ran my fingers along the weathered frame of the picture. There to protect it from anything that could damage it.

In a way, I had done the same to myself. I distanced myself from others to avoid getting hurt. It had been years since I had last loved someone.

The only person that seemed to penetrate that barrier was Toni. I had tried so hard to keep my distance from him, but eventually I gave in to my heart.

I think I'm in love.
