Stuck in Europe with my brother and his best friend? FML! Did I mention he's a jerkface man-whore?
Chapter Fifteen:
Zoey's POV:
I woke up with a start.
Please let it be a dream! Please let it be a dream!
"Zo?" I heard from beside me.
I turn to find Kyle sprawled on the bed next to me. "Kyle?"
"You ok?"
Oh no. Please be a dream!
"It was a dream, right? My parents aren't traffickers?"
Kyle looked confused for a second. "Um."
What the hell does that mean?!
"Kyle!"
"What the hell did you have in the club Zo? Of course, they're not traffickers..."
I frowned. "Why did you trail off?"
"Uh," Kyle hesitated again. Damn it! It wasn't a dream! "I didn't think past the lying part. Sorry Zoey."
I could feel my eyes start to tear. "Damn."
"Zo, don't cry. Nothing's gonna happen to you. Everything's fine," he said, grabbing me. He turned me so my head was lying on his chest, putting my body face down.
"You're a crappy liar Kyle," I said through sniffles.
"Yeah, I know. But I'm gonna try my hardest so that everything stays relatively okay."
Who the hell was this kid? Kyle, or the old one, would've never given me a second thought. And now he's being all super nice and protective.
"Aw, it's nice to know that you think of me as protective," Kyle said.
Shit, I'd said that all out loud.
"So I guess I might as well start admitting it. I was never really a true player. Once I found out about your parents, Jace and I dedicated our time to taking care of you and watching out for ourselves."
I shook my head. "But why you?"
"Well, my parents are sort of in on the deal, too. The Hotels are just a minor part of the operation, so to speak."
I felt a sinking feeling in my heart. "You mean..."
"No!" he yelled. "It's not human trafficking! I promise! God no. They deal with antiques believe it or not." {No idea if there is such a thing as antiques trafficking lol}
I laughed humorlessly, "What the hell does that mean?" My tone came out harsh and full of rage. I was surprised myself.
"They steal from one buyer to give to another, that sort of thing." Kyle shrugged.
"Mhmm," I encouraged. When I saw he wasn't continuing, I added, "Aaaaaand?"
"And the hotels are meeting places. That's why there are so many in Europe and the Middle East." Kyle finished.
I was honestly so conflicted that I could have just fallen asleep right there.
On the one hand, I was glad to know that my parents did not deal with the horrible human trafficking corruption or the drug dealings as well, but then again, any illegal thing was something to frown upon.
I always thoughts your parents were the people you were supposed to want to be. The one you aimed to please. But my world came crashing down on me as soon as I realized that my parents weren't the safe example every other child had in the world. They weren't angels.
And that sent me into a spiraling frenzy.
I started to hyperventilate and cried again. Kyle held me as I tried to think of positive things. They were still my parents. I still loved them. It was because of them that Kyle was such a huge part of my life.
Slowly, my breathing started to calm down. And Kyle was still here.
"Kyle..." I started, but stopped, scared to continue.
"Zo, I know it's a lot to take in but you know that you'll always have me and Jace here. He's your brother, your blood. He literally can't go anywhere without you. And I'm...I'm always gonna be here for you." I was about to interrupt when he continued, cutting me off, "We love you Zoey. I love you. And I will always be here to take care of you."
And my heart stopped beating. At least that's how it felt.
"Zoey?" he asked, once he saw that I was sort of frozen in my state.
"Yeah, um, I just..." I love you, too, I wanted to tell him.
But I wasn't sure if he meant it in a brotherly way or not.
"Not," he said. Fuck! I'd said it out loud again!
He chuckled when he saw my face of complete embarrassment. "I truly do love you Zo."
I knew that my smile was more of a grin as I pulled him by his shirt. Our faces were reallllly close together, just the way I wanted them.
Slowly, I moved closer, hovering my mouth above his. He was laying down and I was on top of him now, trying to keep the upper hand.
I kept hovering until I heard him moan softly, so soft I could've imagined it. But I knew I hadn't when I saw that he was blushing. BLUSHING!
"Kyle?" I whispered.
He smiled, "Yeah babe?" he whispered back.
"I think I might love you, too."
His face was a grin that probably matched mine.
In an instant, our lips were touching and he was kissing me like he'd never before. I begged for entrance, knowing that he'd give in easily, but still moaned when our tongues touched.
And just like that, I knew.
As long as Kyle was by my side, I could take on the world.
Maybe even my criminal parents.

Ok, so that was also a surprise for me. I knew that Zo and Kyle would end up together because, well, I love a good cliché, but I didn't know that it would come so soon. Granted we are on chapter fifteen. Anyway.
Hope u liked this chpt.

Song of the day was Love the Way You Lie. We were in the car on our way back home from AC and this song was on probs about six or seven times. It's a good thing I like it, otherwise, the radio would've died.:)
