i like to think
i can stand on the
edge of a railing,
thousands of feet
above, and look down
without a skip in my heart;
just the breathless feeling
of knowing that
this is the closest i can get
to flying without wings.
alas,
i am always overcome with fear
and i stay on the ground
looking up at the sky instead.
