Chapter One: Introduction to my not so normal family

 I always mention ‘normal people’ and that is because my family aren’t ‘normal’ - we aren’t human. We are vampires.

Vampire have powers which is one reason why we are able to stand out unless we hide them. Our powers include:  : flying, telepathy, mind-to-mind communication, the ability to turn invisible, great hearing and sight, the sense of danger and speed. Not all vampires have dark hair and eyes etc. It depends on the person and the DNA.

You can be turned into a vampire when another vampire bites you or if you are born vampire. If you are turned into a vampire then you stay at the age when you were turned. If you are born a vampire then you genuinely stop aging in your late teens and twenties. Nobody knows why but it happens. A lot of vampires are turned into them though, so it’s not very often that people are born vampire. Vampire can also go out in the sun because over the years when vampire were secretly around they slowly became immune to the sun and now vampires are able to go out in it and not be effected. Thank God!

Let me introduce my family, shall I?

My parents had four children including me. I am the youngest child and the only daughter which means that my family are very protective over me. It also means that I have three older brothers – yay…

There is my father, Arthur, who is 1100 years old. His grandmother was a vampire and she turned him into a vampire when he was 40 and dangerously suicidal. His parents were both non-vampires and so was his grandfather, and when my father became suicidal it was agreed that to save him from death, my grandmother would turn him into a vampire. Vampires live forever unless killed in a ‘special way’ that hardly anyone knows, so turning my father into a vampire would mean that he wouldn’t die.  Anyway, my father is around 6 ft 3, is very pale and has dark red eyes. He has short black hair that is always styled to perfection and has some grey hairs on show.  He has no living family members anymore. My father is and always has been a doctor and a very good one.

Then there is my mother, Rose, who  is 1000 years old. She was turned into a vampire by her adoptive mother when she was 35 and was slowly dying from cancer. She is around 5 ft 9 and has long, light blonde hair that reaches her waist. She also has rather pale skin and has lilac eyes. She has a younger  vampire brother named Louie who was turned into a vampire at 32 because he too had cancer. My mother is a very good lawyer and used to be a teacher.

When my parents had babies it was obvious that we were going to be born vampires, especially when both our parents are vampires.

My oldest brother at 980 years old is my brother Night. Yes, Night as in night time. He stopped aging at 26 and has looked like that ever since. Night is around 6 ft 1 and has short, black hair and a stubble. He has deep red eyes and pearly white teeth. Night is very blunt and is very charismatic and when he ever meets a female human, they find it hard to resist him. Shame they don’t last two minutes. Either he gets carried away kissing them that he ends up drinking blood and accidentally killing them, or he doesn’t get involved with them. It’s usually the second one because we didn’t want to kill people and be exposed. He owns a strip club called Bite me which my parents don’t approve of but Night doesn’t care.

My second oldest brother at 978 years old is Rueben. He looks like a 23 year old and is just as tall as Night. He has short blonde hair, lilac eyes and pale skin. Rueben has a bit of a temper but is really intelligent and usually has a plan for tricky situations. He owns a nightclub called ‘Eternity’ which sort of has a hidden meaning behind it which he finds hilarious. I don’t know why two of my brother own some sort of club, I guess they just like clubs? Who knows?

My last and the youngest brother at 972 years old is Leon. He looks like a 21 year old and he is not as tall as my other brothers but he is still way taller than me at 5 ft 11. He has black  'emo style' hair, pale skin and has dark red red eyes. He is very flirty, whenever he goes out he usually wears contact lenses to make his eyes look less scary and weird. He is a tattooist at his own tattoo shop called ‘Ink me up’. He wanted to tattoo for a long time and decided to do what my brothers did and own his own business. Lucky for them all they are successful!

Then there is me at 940 years old. I am Flora and I am the daughter of four. I am 5 ft 5 which is small especially when I am part vampire too, but apparently my grandparents weren’t that big so I probably got it from them. I am pale and I have short, black hair with a side fringe the covers my left eye. My eyes are lilac. I look like an 18 or 19 year old because I stopped aging then. Whether, that is a good thing or bad thing, I don’t know.

All my family are rather old so we have seen a lot of history and have experienced things that people from this century wouldn’t have. I have been taught multiple times before by my parents who are very smart and are qualified, so I know a lot of things.
