Self-crowned

Self-crowned:

To wear a crown
I need not money or sounds
Hair coloured honey or browns
Like silk nor flattering founds.

To wear a crown
Approval is only your own
Neither up or down
Should restrict what's blown.

To wear a crown
Under veil or cloud
Keep your head high and be proud
Let you be heard soft or loud.

Let none dictate the angle
The tilt of the carbon crystals
The delicate golden threads of self-esteem
Nor the worth of who wears it.

Dance in the rain
And let them think you insane
Invent your path and laugh
Because you are a woman
And you wear a crown
That none but you can wear.
