How to Use Wattpad

What Is: Wattpad Picks & Hot/Rising/New

Like the name implies, "Wattpad Picks" is a list of stories that has been specially curated by Wattpad staff. But what does that mean?

Unlike the recommended stories you can browse on the home page (which are determined by algorithm, according to each user's unique reading history and habits), the stories in Wattpad Picks have all been specifically chosen for promotion by someone at Wattpad HQ.  "The Featured List" is primarily for trending stories (you can think of this like a 'What's Hot' list), while the other lists are more specific: they can include anything from staff picks to themed lists (like "Holiday Stories" or "Poetry Collections").

On mobile, you can find Wattpad Picks under "Browse", where it's highlighted in blue just above the category list.

On the web, you can find Wattpad Picks under "Discover" in the highlighted window to the right of the categories.

You can find the "Hot", "Rising", and "New" lists under any of the categories and most of the tag pages. All three of these lists are created by algorithm: Hot is for 'popular' stories (in the last 24 hours they've received a mix of the most comments, reads, votes, etc in their category or tag), Rising is for 'trending' stories (these are stories that recently had a bump in user activity), and New is for stories that were recently updated.

On the web, these options are just under the category banner.

And on mobile they're in exactly the same place, but unlike the web you can swipe to the left to see more suggested lists in the header bar. (Wattpad Picks is the same!)
