Chapter 2: hand to hand combat

You, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin joined the military after a few years passed. "WHATS YOUR NAME CADET?!?!?!" Shadis yelled at a boy with a shaved head "Connie sir!!!" Connie yelled while saluting "AND WHY ARE YOU HERE CADET?!?!" Shadis yelled back and Connie told him why he joined the military. After Connie explained Shadis grabbed Connie's head on both sides HARD making Connie's face look weird. You were angry. Mikasa was beside you and she saw you getting angry. Mikasa placed her right hand on your shoulder and you looked at her. Once you saw her face you calmed down. "YOU!" Shadis yelled and you looked over and see him looking at a redhair girl eating a potato. "WHATS YOUR NAME CADET?!" Shadis yelled and the redhead salutes with the potato "SASHA BRAUS(or Blouse) SIR!!" Sasha said well redhead your going to be in so much trouble you thought while looking at the two. "Well Braus what are you doing?" Shadis said calmer but with a raspy voice "I'm eating a potato sir" Sasha said "and why are you eating a potato?" "Because it was getting cold sir" "..." "Um you can have half of the potato" Sasha then breaks the potato in half and gave the smallest piece to Shadis "half of a potato?" Shadis said looking at the potato "y-yes sir" Sash said and you shook your head think he wanted all of the potato redhead you thought. "YOU WILL RUN AROUND UNTIL YOU CANT STAND ANYMORE!!!" Shadis yelled and threw the potato at Sasha making it break. It didn't seem funny to you for some reason. Instead you walked over to Shadis while Mikasa looked at you with worry. "Hey boldy why are you picking on us like your popular?" You said without any emotion. Shadis spun around angry "WHAT DID YOU SAY CADET?!" Shadis yelled in front of your face "I don't need to repeat. Or unless your too old to hear" you said glaring at him. Shadis then punched your face which made you fall on the floor and groan in pain "GET UP CADET!!! YOU WILL BE RUNNING WITH BRAUS!!" Shadis yelled kicking sand on you. Your anger took control and you kicked his leg making him fall. "Shut up! Just because your an adult doesn't mean you treat us like that!!" You yelled kicking him in the face. "ENOUGH!!" Someone else yelled. You look over to the voice but before you could blink someone kicked you in the lower region. You fell to the floor in pain while holding your lower region. The same person kicks you in the face, stomach, and head. Mikasa was about to beat up the stranger but Armin and two others stopped her. "Don't ever beat up a Commander or your leader" the man said "thanks Levi" Shadis said while holding his stomach a little. Levi had his foot on your head so you struggle to look up. It was the Survery Corps. Your still angry but calmed down a little. Levi bends to look into your eyes "don't ever beat up anyone else. Got that?" Levi said angry and you nod. Levi stood up and put his foot off your head so you can stand up. You had blood running down your head, nose, and mouth. You limped back to your place "we will get a medic to clean you up brat" Levi said dragging you by your collar which made you choke a little. You look over to Mikasa and you saw, sadness, guilt, anger, and disappointment. You looked away now feeling guilty that you beaten up Shadis for no good reason. He needed to be strict to lead since we can get loud and violent.
~At the informery~
You sat on a white bed while a nurse cleaned up the blood and take care of your wounds. "So what happened?" The nurse asked putting an alcohol covered cottenball on your cheek and you hissed because of the pain "Levi happened" You said "and why did he beat you up?" The nurse asked again putting more alcohol on the cottenball "because I beaten up Shadis. Shadis was being rude and stuff so I stood up for a redhead named Sasha Braus. But when Levi was dragging me to the informery I realized he needs to be like that. Since we can get out of control" You explained and the nurse nodded. "Anyways your ready to go. Just make sure not get into trouble with Levi" The nurse said cleaning up "yes ma'am" you said getting up and walking out.
~At the cabins~
I walked into my dorm and I got into a bone crushing hug. You looked down and saw Sasha giving you a hug "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOOOOOU!!!" Sasha cried before running out of the door "ok?" I said in confusion and sat down on my bed. I sighed and touched one of bandages on my right cheek. "(Y/N)" you heard someone say. You look up and see Mikasa looking down at you with worry. Mikasa bends down and grabs your hand. "I'm sorry I didn't do anything" Mikasa said with guilt and sadness in her eyes. You smiled "hey it's ok. It was my decision. It won't happen again I promise" you said. Mikasa looked up at you "you promise? You never make promises unless your serious" Mikasa said "and I'm serious" Mikasa smiled and hugged you which was rare "ok, as long as you promise" She said breaking the hug and smiled. You blushed because of her smile. She rarely smiled even when we were kids. "CADET (L/N)!!!" I heard Shadis yell and I sighed "well time for running with potato girl. Bye Mikasa" I said walking out of the door "bye" Mikasa said. "There you are cadet!" Shadis yelled as you saluted "sir! I'm sorry for earlier! I will take any punishment so you can see Im serious for my forgiveness!" I yelled and Shadis took a step back surprised because he thought I would be like Mikasa or Annie. "Ahem. Ok. You will run for Potato girl until her legs give out and after that you will clean my office along with the girls dorm, after your done cleaning my office and the dorm you will clean the dishes and do all the chores. You will run around campus until the sun is rising. Got it cadet?" Shadis said and I nodded although I didn't like the idea of having no rest for training. "Good. Now get going! Braus is already running!!" Shadis yelled pointing to the exit. I sighed and jogged were redhead is. She was already tired so I just jogged beside her. She looked over at me "how....can you....jog.....next to....me?" She asked taking breathes after almost every word. I shrugged and smirked "cuz your just fast walking" I said and she sighed. I turned my head to see what I presume is Shadis's room turn dark which means he's in bed. My smirked widened "I will be right back" I said and ran to the kitchen. I grabbed some bread and stole some meat. I even grabbed two waters so me and Sasha can have our own drinks. I came back out to see Sasha laying on the ground. I sighed and walked over to Sasha. Sasha smelled the food and she flunch at me stealing the bread with red scary eyes. I yelped and fell on my butt. I looked over to see Sasha acting like a titan being very hungry after not eating for days. Sasha's eyes turned normal "bread?" Sasha asked holding the bread "y-yes" I said and Sasha grabbed my shoulders "OH THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!" Sasha yelled and I heard Christa giggle "looks like you have a friend already" Christa giggled and Sasha devoured the bread in seconds along with Christa's bread which she gave to Sasha. Sasha then smelled fresh cooked meat. She looked over at me and gasped while I handed her the meat which she also devoured in seconds "THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! YOU BOTH ARE LIKE A GODDESS!!!" Sasha cried happily while hugging us tightly and we gladly returned the hug. "What are you doing?" You heard Ymir say almost coldly like Mikasa but still had a little bit of brightness somewhere in there. You and Christa pulled away and looked up at Ymir. Sasha gasped and grabbed your water and gulped it down "ah I see. Being nice huh?" Ymir said and you shrugged "it's the right thing to do. The more friends you have the less lonely you feel and the more you feel welcomed" I said smiling "wow who told you that crap?" Ymir said playfully while smirking. You looked down with the smile quickly fading "my mother and father" I said lowly "oh and were are they now?" Ymir said bending down with crossed arms "Ymir stop" Christa said as she sees a tear roll down my face and Ymir didn't notice "aw why? Can't she tell me who her mommy and daddy is so I can meet them?" Ymir said "their dead Ymir" I said blankly now crying which Ymir noticed "well, my mom is dead. She got bit in half from a stupid smiling titan and my dad left us. So I don't know if my father is alive or dead" I said clenching my hands "woah....I'm sorry...." Ymir said with guilt in her eyes while rubbing her neck and I took a deep breath "it's ok. You didn't know. Just. Ask permission first please" I said smiling again wiping my eyes. Ymir, Sasha, and Christa hugged me and I hugged back "just don't mention it to Eren so blankly and rudely. He getts ticked off quickly" I said breaking the hug "aw fine. I wanted to tease that green eye fury boy" Ymir said frowning "I'm his sister, Ymir" I said "oh um. Sorry again" Ymir said "I have to work on that" I laughed "it's ok" Christa smiled and Sasha passed out. I sighed and picked her up but only for Ymir to take her from me. "I got her. Consider this as an apology" Ymir said already walking to the girl's dorms "oh ok!" I said walking with them but towards Shadis's office "hey were are you going?" Ymir asked when her and Christa got to the stairs "oh I have to clean Shadis's office and the girl's dorms AND run around campus until the sun comes up" I explained stopping in my tracks and looked back at them "why?" Christa asked "this is my punishment from beating up Shadis" I said shrugging "that's not his style. He would go harder on you" Ymir said "well I apologized and I guess he accepted it? I don't know" "well see you in the morning. Don't over do it ok?" Christa said following Ymir up the stairs and I nodded "don't worry I won't" I said going back to what I was doing.
Later
The sun was rising and you were tired from getting no sleep. You stood between Eren and Mikasa falling asleep until Mikasa bumped your elbow with hers and you woke up. You yawned while listening to Shadis explain what we are doing. "TODAY WE WILL BE DOING HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT! HERE ARE YOUR PARTNERS! SASHA WITH CONNIE! JEAN WITH MARCO! EREN WITH MIKASA! ANNIE WITH (F/N)!" And so on. You looked over at Annie who was walking towards you. You gulped and walked towards her to. You were a little shorter "GAH! WHY AM I THE SHORTEST HERE?!" I said in annoyance "well Christa is the shortest here" Annie said laughing a bit about your grumpy attitude while searching for a spot to train. "What a relief" I said crossing my arms "Shadis got you to stay up all night didn't he?" Annie asked getting into fighting stance "yes" I said getting into fighting stance to. Annie clearly wasn't going to make a first move so you tried punching her in the arm but rather she stood out of the way and wen't under my arm and body slammed me. "Darn it" I mumbled in the dirt when she sat on me "that was easy" Annie said and I grumbled. "Annie get off of (Y/N)" you heard a all to fimilair voice say. You looked up to see Mikasa with crossed arms and glaring at Annie. Annie got up "how about you show me that move you just did?" Mikasa said getting into fighting stance "fine. But I don't think you need it" Annie said getting into fighting stance while Eren and Christa helped me up. My face was all bruised and dirty. "Oh crap...." I mumbled looking at the two girls patiently waiting to see which one will make a move.
