"Don't tell me this is fucking fair, because it isnt."  I snapped, huffing.

"Language! And it's only a 20 minute drive from our old house!" My mom sighed, grabbing my hair tie.

"But those 20 minutes have resulted in me moving schools mom! Are you kidding me?" I whined, burying my head in the book that I was reading.

"Kendra, Cameron goes there. You'll be totally fine!" She tried to reassure me, moving over and stroking my back.

"Mom, just because your best friends daughter goes there, doesn't mean it's going to save me from having to make new friends. Isn't she older than me anyway?" I closed my book and stood up ready to leave.

"Okay yes, she's in senior year bu-"

"Exactly! She won't even want to speak to me mom. I don't want to go!" I attempted to run off but she grabbed my wrist, spinning me right back to face her.

"Oh no you don't. Let's go. I'm sure you'll love it." She grinned, passing me the hair tie and tapping me on the shoulder encouragingly.

And she said the divorce would make things easier for us. In my eyes, nothing could be worse.
"Let's just get this over with."

-------

I made my way to my last class, math. The day had been exactly what I expected, full of stares and unnecessary gossip about me when all I wanted to do was blend into the wall.

I had stayed with Cameron and frankly she was a lifesaver. She was extremely kind and understanding so I was glad my mom even mentioned it to me.

School had once been a highlight to my days but now they were just going to be a living hell.

My phone buzzed, making me look down while I was walking.

Grace: hope your day at school is going well! I'm missing you loads. Come to mine tonight okay? x

I frowned, upset about that fact that I didn't have Grace by my side. This fucking sucked, I just wanted to go back to my old high school.

Me: It's going shit. I miss you so much. Please save me!!!! I'll be there x

I watched as she quickly read it, but as she began typing I found myself walking straight into what felt like a wall.

I stumbled back and the stranger grabbed me, saving me from falling by his solid build.

"Hey, watch where you're going." The deep voice said flatly, looking down at me and then walking straight off. I turned to try and get another look of him, but he turned and walked into the classroom down the hall before I got the chance. I heard the room cheer when he went in, which made me frown.

I shook my head and carried my way back to the door, locking my phone and walking in. I'd check what Grace said later.

The teacher looked at me like every other teacher, fake and presentable.

"And you must be.."

"Kendra." I answered her, tucking a hair behind my ear nervously.

"Welcome to math Kendra, I'm Mrs Taylor. Take a seat over there." She pointed to the only seat that was vacant, which was between a girl and a boy. I shuffled over and sat down tentatively.

"Hi, I'm Liz, nice to meet you." The girl on my right said quietly, grabbing my attention.

"Oh. Hi." I said simply, not good with socialising.

"I'm sure you don't know a lot of people so I'm willing to be a friend." She was extremely pretty, with straight long brown hair and pearly white teeth.

"That would be amazing, thank you." I said sweetly, turning slightly away from the centre and towards her.

Maybe this wouldn't be as bad as I thought.
