"Come on, mate, breathe. Just breathe. It's over. We won, it's all over, please don't do this to me."

Numbness, except against the rain. It's pouring hard now, I'm drenched, the roar of it is deafening. Or maybe that's my ears ringing. There's pressure on my chest. Dull and heavy and ow—something snapped.

"Don't give up yet."

Another snap.

"Don't you dare quit." Sky presses again, grinding my broken bones, "you asshole."

More chest crushing, the numbness is ebbing andnow I know for sure it's raining, and the droplets are tiny rocks banging downon me. The comforting barricade of numbness grows thinner, and on the otherside is agony like I've never experienced in my life. I can taste it likesulfur on my tongue and I recoil, willing the numbness to hold steady. I don'twant to go back. I'm free for the first time since the world ended and for oncein my life, nothing hurts.

I want to go home.

Tengo miedo.
