I was 10 at the time and had no knowledge about periods or sanitary napkins. I often wondered why a napkin looked so weirdly shaped and why would someone stain it purposely with a blue colored liquid.

So, once me and my family were watching TV when a sanitary napkin ad came. I couldn't control my curiosity anymore and blurted out,
"Maaa? What's a pad? Like knee pads? And what are periods? Like the ones in my school? 1st period... Last period... Han?"

Dad choked on his food and my mom asked me to shut up. I got angry and walked away stomping my feet.
Next day mom told me about it and then I understood what was the awkwardness about.
