I was hiking with two friends at a popular spot in our local area. It was about a 45-minute uphill climb to a waterfall, and we took pictures as we walked. Only later did we realise what was in the background of those photos– a young girl lying face down in the mud, horribly injured with two broken legs. We called 911 and rushed to help her and that’s when we discovered the body of her friend. They had fallen from the waterfall the afternoon before. Her friend had tried to go for help and died less than 100 metres away so no one knew she was hurt or even that she was up there
