Calla is second, she loves playing sports and has a knack for getting dirty in the cleanest of places. And when she isn't running through the mud and playing with the football, she's doing little fashion shows...happy to say that there is no reason a girl can't do both.
And finally there is Fawn, she has a great love of reading and writing, and is really good at science and math. She's also like me, a bit shy around new people, so she and I will either hit it off first or be the last to connect.
All three have Dakota's complexion, and their hair is black instead of dark brown, but they each have different eye colors. Rain has blue, Calla has hazel, and Fawn has gray.
"It sounds beautiful. Have your sisters shifted yet?" I ask curiously, and he shakes his head.
"Not yet, though they should once they reach thirteen. All three of them are excited by that, and so is mom...but I'm equally anxious as well as excited...I guess the idea of them growing up kinda scares me a little."
I smile, finding his protective big brother instincts cute...and admirable.
"You're their big brother...you're always going to worry about them..."
He chuckles.
"You're right...Goddess help me when they get old enough to find their mates."
I laugh with him, and as we pass through the towns and small cities, he shows me a few of the sights...explaining the history behind each one. I have to say, as fascinating as the landmarks were, I was mostly focused on the way his deep voice said everything. More interested in the way he told the stories and how much he enjoyed telling them...
When we finally pass through Jefferson City and make it to Vienna, I'm drawn to how many trees surround us as we drive. I know where I lived in Minnesota was wooded, but compared to this it's practically sparse in comparison.
And it's not just the trees...it's the water too. We've crossed over and passed by so much water, some rivers we saw multiple times due to how they were curved and moved. A few minutes after driving out of the city, we turn off the paved road and onto a dirt trail that disappears into the thick section of trees on the side of the road.
"We're still a couple minutes away from the pack house, but I officially welcome you to Starry Creek, Flower."
As I gaze out the windshield, I notice a gray wolf standing near the path, watching us for a moment before disappearing into the trees.
"Looks like we've been spotted, so much for a surprise."
Dakota chuckles out, and start feeling a little nervous again. I don't know if I'm ready to enter the pack house yet.
"Don't worry sweetheart, we're not going to the pack house first. I'm going to take us to our home, that way we can get settled and you can meet everyone slowly before going to the pack house. I've asked my family and the Alpha and Beta to give us a bit of time before coming over."
I internally sigh in relief, thankful that he somehow could read my mind. We continue driving through the territory, following the bumpy dirt path as Dakota takes me to our new home, pointing out the other buildings and the pack house as we passed them. When we finally arrive at what I assume is our new home, I can only stare in shock.
It's incredible...
With at least two stories, it's exterior is designed with both red brick and blue siding, and a large stone fireplace sits in front instead of on the side. It has a covered porch where two rocking chairs and an outdoor table sit, a pot of vibrant flowers sits on the table and rose bushes grow in the grass in front of the porch. As I stare in awe, Dakota chuckles, turning into the driveway and parking beside the large house.
