I can’t believe it! My twin brother could be such an asshole at times, but this was getting out of hand. I mean it’s my house too.
“Tristan, you are not letting Derek live here with us!” I shouted.
“I pay the bills here too, Isabella.” Tristan only used my real name when he was angry at me. Usually, he would just call me Bella.
“I know you do, Tristan. But Derek is reckless. He’ll throw a party every night and ruin all of the furniture!” I argued back. Nothing was going to change Tristan’s mind. Derek was his best friend. At a time, he was my best friend too.
“Bella, when Cassandra needed a place to stay, I didn’t argue with you. Derek just moved back here. Aren’t you excited to see him again?” He was right about Cassandra, but wrong if he thought that I missed Derek.
“No! I was happy he left three years ago. He should’ve just stayed in New York.” I ran up to my room and slammed the door loud enough so my brother would get that I was not changing my mind about how I feel about Derek.
I felt a tingly vibration in my pocket. I pulled out my phone. A text from Cassandra.
Cassandra: Hey boo did u talk to Tristan ‘bout Derek?
I quickly replied back.
Bella: yup. he isnt gonna change his mind. :(
I put my phone back in my pocket. It always took forever for Cassandra to reply, so why bother stare at your phone waiting for the text back?
“Bella,” I heard Tristan call from outside my door. He gave it a gentle knock before opening. I sat on my bed with a book, pretending to read.
“Bella,” he began again, “it’s not like I don’t care about how you feel about this. I know that you two have been through a lot.”
“Tristan, all that stuff is history. I’ve completely gotten over it.” I stated. I knew deep down that I was lying. I felt an ache inside of me.
“If you are over it, then prove it. It shouldn’t bother you that he’s moving in for a while.” Tristan was great at using what I say against me. I swear he was planning to make me say that I was over Derek just to manipulate me. What a cunning bastard.
“Fine,” I said giving in. I could tell by the victorious look on Tristan’s face, my theory about him manipulating me was right. “Just remember, I’m doing this for you, not Derek.”
He smiled at me and left my room, closing the door behind him.
