I was watching the news when Alice’s face filled the screen again. I called for mum to come and I watched her lips tremble as she told me that it was Alice’s birthday today. She had been living in Himlenfields for three years now, which meant she was 14. I noted that I should Google Himlenfields and send her a birthday card. I told mum I was going to the milk bar and that I’d be back soon, and then I darted out the door before she could stop me.

My mum was very funny like that, she was overprotective of me, I didn’t understand why Alice could go live in Himlenfields all by herself, and I couldn’t even walk to the milk bar, which was a 3 minute walk from my house. When I got to the milk bar I picked out a card for Alice and chose a giant snake, I paid for the card and the lolly and walked back home. I searched the house for a pen and an envelope and began writing to Alice, I told her about how much I missed her, and about how absolutely adorable Nick Wynter was. I printed off a photo of nick and enclosed it so she could see for herself. When I was finished I placed the letter and another picture, this time of me, inside the envelope and sealed it. I started up mum’s computer and searched Himlenfields in Google maps. Nothing showed up so I searched Himlenfields in Google and the only thing that showed up was something about the world’s best picture of a tree. I searched Google until dinner time, and then transferred my searches to my laptop, where I accidently clicked on Google translate; I decided it was worth a go. I selected detect language to English and typed in Himlen. It took a while to detect what language it was and then even longer to translate it.
