Good day Wattpaders, the year 2014 has already reached June, can you believe how fast time flies. It’s just unbelievable. For some of you, this year must have brought so many surprises while for the others this must have brought a few rocky days. But don’t forget there is always a silver line of hope. Okay I better stop rambling about this because you all are here to read the fun interview with the ‘On The Rise’ author that I have here.
Please welcome her warmly, she is one of those writers who have really come a long way from the first time she started writing. She is known as @Cocolava on Wattpad and is the author of the ‘Undiscovered Gem- Save The Last Dance’ that rose to fame in the past few months. It’s amazing how her novel has reached 12000 reads in a matter of two months. I am impressed.
She has also two very well known books going by the names of ‘They Call Them Devils’ and ‘Twisted Love Story’. I am sure there are more, but these are the ones catching onto fame faster than I can run.
What do you think of the book titles Wattpaders?
Cocolava also known as Chantelle or Elle as stated in her profile is from the busy country of India. We should give her a round of applause for taking time out to write for us, even with the hectic schedule her country lives in. Anyhow, Cocolava has been a member ever since June 03, 2013 which means she has completed one year on Wattpad. Congratulations.
So now let’s begin with the questions shall we, Okay so here is the first one.
* The readers would like to know a few things about you, so just brief us with those few fun facts?
A. Hi my name is Chantelle Nazareth but my friends call me Elle or Coco or even Shawnie, I am twenty one years old, my birthday is on the 26 of February. I was born and raised in a semi metro Politian city in India. Well what more to say about myself? Erm yeah :)
* So what I was wondering is, Why Cocolava? How did that username come up?
A. Cocolava is just a mixture of chocolate and lave, that happens to be the definition of my favorite cake. Every time I think of that cake this name pops in and hence I picked this user name.
* Thanks it’s really good to know the reason behind it and now you have got me dreading for that cake. Please do send me some when you have it? Moving on, since this magazine is about ‘On The Rise’ writers, I would like to know what you think about the title and how does it feel as you climb the ladder of success?
A. It’s an amazing feeling, I can’t believe the success I have reached when I started back in 2011 and now, it’s amazing, Wattpad has helped so much :)
* That is true you are doing really well and I am so happy for you, I wish you all the luck in getting what you dream off. When did you start writing? What inspired it?
A. Thank you it means so much, I started writing back when I was 10 or 13 I don’t exactly remember, it’s always been in my blood. What inspired it was the fact that I was good with words when it came to expressing what I felt or thought about someone, so I decided to start with poems, which lead to quotes and then further to short stories and now novels, it really means so much to me. I can’t even express that :)
* That has been a long time I see and you do have a very deep inspiration, nice to know. Tell me more about your style of writing and what you like most about it?
A. my style of writing is defiantly humor, teen fiction. What I like about writing is the fact that it takes me into a whole different world, changing everything I have ever felt, helping me develop and experience so much. It has matured me and I like it.
* Humor me, Miss Nazareth, Haha, carrying on, Would you like to shed some light on your works so far?
A. I have written about 10 to thirteen novels most of them are ongoing or in editing, I have five completed works and the remaining are ongoing. I have so many poems and few are posted on Wattpad, most of my quotes are self made and I write documentaries once in awhile.
* Wow that is a lot. Who is your favorite character in your novels so far and why?
A. Till date I guess I love, Evan from my book They Call Them Devils. Because he is just that bad boy type that only smirks when he watches a girl looking at him, he reminds me a lot about someone I knew.
* I think that book needs to get more reads if we have such smarty pants in them, don’t you think so my fellow Wattpaders? I am sure they agree with me, Would you make writing a dream career or not? Give a reason as to why you say ‘yes’ or ‘no’?
A. I am already working on making it my dream carrier, the reason I will do so is because there is nothing that means more to me that writing, and it is my life. I live on it day in and day out.
* That is a strong motive I see there, Okay so the questions from here on are really easy and basic, so I don’t think you will have to ponder on thoughts much. Which are the authors you like to read? Name some of your favorite books.
A. I thought you said the questions from here on are easy :P this one is actually a big hard decision to make, but summing it up I would say I am a sucker for Romance Novels, Nicolas Sparks, Cecelia Ahren, P.C Cast and so many more. My all time favorite book is ‘The Last Song’ by Mr. Sparks, because it just means so much more than just a novel to me. It’s very touching and inspiring.
* Haha girl you are doing really great here. What’s more important for you: characters or plot?
A. It’s both actually because, there is no plot without characters and no characters without a plot, these two are interdependent and so they both are equally important.
* Well spoken, Name one of the books on Wattpad that inspired you, written by?
A. There are too many that I read and a few that did inspire me, but it’s hard mentioning them, it changes with each book I read.
* Tell me something about your favorite Wattpad Writer?
A. Niviaaru, my soul sister. Has been and always will be my favorite Wattpad Writer, she is my other half, the apple to my pie, straw to my berry, she completes me in a weird way. Makes me gush with happiness over the long comments she leaves. And in her weird sense of humor she inspires me. I love her to the moon and back and I hope everyone reading this will stop by and speak to her :D
* What do you do when you encounter a writer’s block?
A. I stop, walk up to my terrace, and sit in silence. Playing the craziest songs and watching nature. That always snaps a thought in my head.
* Nice trick, I think many of us should try it sometime. If for a day you could be someone else who would that be and why?
A. I would want to be myself, because I believe that everyone is unique in their own way and if you try to be someone else you would lose the true meaning of who you are meant to be.
* This is just so deep, I really like the way you think. So, any last words to the lovely Wattpaders?
A. Dreams are meant to be achieved so, dream on and never in your wildest dreams ever give up. I love all the support I get and I love you guys for that, thank you. Hugs and kisses Cocolava
