Dullness

I lived in a world
with dull colours
black and white
sometimes grey too
I lived in that world
thinking that was it
a life that is colourless
is my destiny
Nothing could change it
Until you came in
Showed me colour and life
Red, green, blue, yellow
orange, pink, purple
the air - it's devoid of strife!
But then the backstabbing beast comes
Its breath changes the colour of my life
Within minutes I'm in
the world I thought
I left behind
Dull and colourless
Within minutes I realise
why you took me away
to make me yearn, like a crab for a shell
for something I've
seen but never
can have again
I wonder through
the monotone streets
Looking at the grey signs
thinking and longing for
the life I could have had
the life I left behind
