OKAY! SO, HERE'S HOW YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO FINISH A CLEAN, FINISHED SCENE!

( list taken from Pinterest )

ASK YOURSELF:

1. What needs to happen in this scene?
2. What's the worst that would happen if this scene was omitted?
3. Who needs to be in this scene?
4. Where could this scene take place?
5. What's the most surprising thing that could happen in this scene?
6. Is this a long scene or a short scene?
7. Brainstorm three different ways it could begin.
8. Play it on a screen in your head.
9. Write a scribble version.
10. Write the full scene.
11. Repeat 200 times

Here's how I would answer those first questions with my book How To Stop Liking Boys

1. Daniel needs to come out to his mom
2. It's never explicitly stated that she knows when her acceptance is very important to Daniel therefore him and his development are incomplete
3. Daniel and his mother
4. Their house, driving home from Mike's
5. She kicks him out
6. Long as this is something that a 15 year old might need help explaining/dealing with...

See how it works? Now apply that to your story!
